Tough Predicament - Which Job to Accept?

Hi all. To recap for those who don't want to read my last post: got a bogus offer from my job (based in NY) to be the founding AE in their new London office. Offer included a 2k reduction in salary, a few flights, and a small moving stipend. Currently at 60k salary, about 90k OTE.

To let you all know where I am currently at: I applied to a bunch of different tech jobs, as tech has always been a dream for me. It's been difficult applying to AE jobs in a different industry after only being an AE for about 4 months so I was reaching out as well to Senior SDR positions. After a few weeks, and a few rounds of interviews later, landed a position with a 70k base/100k OTE.

However, I just got pulled in for an internal meeting with my CEO and he pretty much begged me to go to London. I told him if they gave me 70-75k, I would reconsider. CEO said he would try to work his magic and get back to me in the next few days.

Question now is what offer to take.

Option A:

Enterprise Senior SDR at a Series B tech company (I always wanted to be in tech)

70k base, 100k OTE

200 employees, but new US office with like 4 sales people in total

Good product/market fit

Would take me months/a year to become an AE again

Option B:

Senior AE at a pre-seed events company in London

70/75k base, probably like 110k OTE

Product is not necessarily bad, but it's a lie (fake attendee lists + lies on the pitch)

Promotion opportunities are ample

I'm not one necessarily for selling my soul but really lost here. Obviously, I'd love to accept Option A because it's the industry I want to be in - but I'd be starting over as a SDR which sucks. Also, the lying at my current company bugs me but the offer would be nice - especially considering I just started working here about 8 months ago.

Ah and one last thing to note - I'm beginning to lose faith in our current product which is the thing that scares me most. I hate the lying, the fakeness of everything even though it seems to work decently and people like our events.

Option A. You’re not going to catch me moving across the ocean for $70k and a verbal “promise” from my CEO. Especially to sell a product/service that I don’t believe in.

Based on the way you presented it, I would opt for A. Logistically its easier and more stable. HOWEVER, if you're dying to move to London then go for B. Ex-Pat experience always looks good on a resume and its a great experience, especially when you're young.

Not necessarily dying to go to London, but ofc the promotion possibilities would be better over there than here.
The biggest thing would be putting my name down for 2 years at a company that I'm not thrilled about.

If all things were equal, I would tell you to stick with B. The evil you know wins over the evil you don't. Series B tech can be so much more painful than pre-seed anything. You just don't know what sort of dangling carrots you're going to have to chase. And you're a proven asset where you are.
However- all is not equal. There's a name for people who lie for a living and it isn't lawyer. It's liar... and to reference my previous opinion, all you have on this earth is your good name. While you may have goosed the comp to be palatable to make the move, I don't think there's any pay raise that makes lying for a living in a different country sustainable.
There is inherent freedom in being able to operate ethically. There's also a chance to become a trusted advisor that earns referral business. This is what you should build on. Clearly you've got the skills to warrant a promotion. You'll earn it again.
Your career is a long game. Please be patient enough to allow yourself to move up with credibility. Go get that tech job.

Yes. You read my mind. This is what I'm scared of as well - that I leave and my new company will be selling a scam too.
And TY, if you couldn't tell, I was leaning towards the tech job as well just wanted to make sure the pros agreed with me :)

As a side note here there is absolutely no way anyone can live reasonably on $110K in London UK. DO NOT DO THAT

I’d go B, if you don’t have responsibilities like a family, bc the experience and being a founding AE in a new territory on resume trumps being an enterprise SDR unless you really think the company is gonna be the next gong then go with A. But the experience you get from B would be much better than you’d get from A

You've already said how much you dislike selling what you're selling. If I were your age, I'd definitely be tempted to give London a shot, but with everything else in consideration, I'm leaning toward A.

Option A. Even if you have go start over, you can’t put a price on piece of mind when you work at a place and with a product you believe in and can get behind.

You’re out of your mind to even consider moving to London for that kind of pay. It’s one of the most expensive cities in the world. Sure, it would be a neat change and adventurous, but that’s about it. If that’s what you’re digging so you can do Europe for a while, sure..but don’t expect to build a future unless you commit to staying there for a long time, especially since you won’t have much money to save.

As for the SDR part, maybe try to broker an AE pathway. You have the experience. Put it in writing.
