Final Straw: Obviously should have been long ago but as I replied to a few of you: I think I am chasing the Unicorn opportunity of Max Freedom and Flexibility while making great money. The original person that called me after I applied who is a recruiter for them called to discuss my concerns with the position. She said my feelings were valid and agreed with you guys that this was a very strange way of doing things but that I "Just needed to get over it, get a list of 40 prospects, set the appointments and trust the process they are trying to create because they are unique and if you don't like how they are doing things then you probably aren't a good fit for them, again your feelings are valid but you need to get over how you are feeling if you want to make this work so I suggest get your work done by Friday and everything will work out."

I'm officially Pulling the Plug and keeping myself open to other opportunities. Thank you all for your support during this!

Sounds like they were dealing with an internal recruiter but if it was external I agree, don't work with that recruiter again. Any recruiter who pressures a candidate to just "get over" their feelings and take the job anyway is only looking out for themselves.

SO happy to hear you've written this off. They'll be busy now looking for someone weaker than yourself to capitulate to their ridiculous demands (couched as a hiring process) instead of actually revamping their process.

Spend the time you would have doing their work on sourcing some new opportunities, and use this as an entertaining, though frustrating, war story.

I'm sure this has made you grow a little, and be confident of your self worth. They weren't, but you should always be.

Clearly this company doesn't recognize your worth - and based on their shitty hiring tactics for free labor it looks like probably none of the other staff members know their worth either (if they did, they wouldn't have to resort to these tactics or they'd leave this company).

Remember - you didn't quit and you're not "soft" or anything. You recognized the value you bring and concluded there are WAY better opportunities out there.
