Wait for recruiter?

Hey all,

Whats everyone's thoughts on finding the hiring manager and reaching out?

I've recently had an interview for a job I really want. I know the name of the hiring manager and the recruiter is on PTO for a few days. My thinking is a nice intro video email will show some initiative and my sales style, but worried I'm over stepping.

Should I take the initiative or be patient?

Pickup their kids for them after school and drop them off at home for a sure fire way to get some face time.

You sir are walking the line I want to walk! Great thinking and will definitely put me in a great spot to negotiate a little extra PTO!

If you have to ask then you might not be an ideal candidate

I have already had two people step outside recruitment protocol and immediately went to the top of my interview stack. Do it

Take initiative, and explain you’re not trying to overstep boundaries, but you just wanted to introduce yourself.

This was my thinking too. Short and simple. Try and get the hiring manager to ask the recruiter "Whose this?"

Thanks!

Go for it. Hiring managers appreciate the candidates who've done their homework. You video email where you are pitching yourself should follow a sales process - Research (About the role, product and market), Discovery (What you know, how can you deliver them ROI if they hire you), Demo (Interview process). If you can nail down the Research and Discovery and deliver a great short message hitting on the key areas, you've got yourself an interview. And you've jumped a few candidates already.

I would do something subtle like drop them a LI connection request.  If the hiring process drags on for a bit, then you can hit the hiring manager up with a direct message.

I connected the second the recruiter gave me the hiring manager's name!

No harm in introducing yourself. If that person thinks it's overstepping, then maybe it's not a fit

Very good point! Probably don't want to work for a VP that thinks being proactive is bad
