Ways to Beat the Black Hole Portal?

Whenever I submit an app to the portal, I can't help but feel there's 4000 other people submitting through the same link.


Have you guys ever had luck with other ways of getting your resume in front of someone?


I've been messaging reps and connections at companies, but I wonder if it's too forthright to ask them if they have any openings, or if they'd consider passing a resume along. What do we think?

Just apply to a ton and then get a ton of offers and pick the best rather than picky where you apply to

Is it too forthright to ask someone to do you a favor and pass your resume along? How is that not like, “should I ask for the order? I don’t want to seem pushy.”

I think you know better. Black hole be clouding your head.

If your resume is good and aligned with the role then don’t worry. Many recruiters I’ve talked to and have shared experiences about how 80% or more of those who apply don’t even qualify for the role.

I’d apply and then reach out to the managers with your value prop and an easy ask for them to help push you through to the initial screen.

Is it too forthright to cold call a prospect? figure out 5-10 companies you'd like to be at, target them and show that you know how to do the job they are going to ask you to do.

Just in general - when you apply for a job through LinkedIn, sometimes it shows you "127 other people applied for this job" which is a bit demoralizing
