Best ways to get out of jury duty?

Yep! I've been called in and have to watch that boring hour+ video.

What should I say to get out of this?

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
I was called in for Jury Duty several years ago. At the time I was selling to Public Safety agencies and government. One of the questions they asked on a questionnaire was “ do you know any police officers and if so, who?” I proceeded to write down the names of chiefs of police for 10 agencies in a 50 mile radius ( who I’d personally met with over the previous couple Months).

The Defendant’s attorney asked me how I knew so many police chiefs. I told him they were clients. 5 min later I was dismissed.

You've not lived until the Federal Court tries to get you, because going to the Federal Court building when you're in the burbs is so much fun.

Fortunately, they sent out a questionnaire in advance to try and winnow the field of candidates down to those who were least likely to be dismissed immediately. That questionnaire made it plain which bro the trial was about, so my honest responses were enough to get me to the point where I never had to show up in person but could check the portal every evening for three weeks and hope the jury + alternates hung in there and didn't need replacing. Which was fortunate, because the Feds have a horrible online system that lost my reschedule request, and for part of that three weeks, I was in another state. Anyway, I digress.

For regular county jury service?
1) hope you don't have to show up for day 1 when you check by phone or online the day before.
2) if you do show, bring plenty to do in the waiting room while you wait to be brought into the courtroom for voir dire or dismissal. Be prepared to sit all morning, be dismissed for lunch, and return to check in and be dismissed entirely.
3) if you do get into the courtroom, hope that your number is late enough in the group that they impanel a jury before you even get called (best case). But if you do get called: this is when you can bring up honest reasons for being dismissed depending on the case. The most sincere way to try and get out of it is have a noted bias (for either side) of a case, where you honestly don't believe you can be impartial.

That said, I do think it would be very interesting to sit on a jury, but working people have a very difficult time finding the time. It's an acute problem in our line of work, particularly if you are on the road.

Shit your pants.

No, seriously, if you have a disability that prevents you from sitting for a length of time, you can get a five-year exemption.

Oh,I didn't know it's obligatory in the US as it's not the case here in Egypt.
But hey look I just found you the main reasons why most people are getting a dismissal for in the US, so simply try to claim any of the below to get you out.

Any reason deemed sufficient by the court.
Medical reasons.

Undue hardship.

Dependent care.

Student Status.

Military conflict.
Hope it helps!

Have something relatable to the case. If you are biased, they will dismiss you.

Buddy just told me there's some type of exemption you can make if you have more than 10 followers on any social media; you can claim to be an online 'public figure' with sway and that will get you out of it - worth a shot??

It is your duty to go to jury duty. The system fucks too many people, you could help get an innocent person off. Or, google jury nullification
