This deal was right at 4 months. We got through initial discovery and demos within a couple of weeks, and I was sure I was about to hit a new record for shortest time to close. Just needed some materials from them to get the ball rolling.
Alas, as the summer began, I started to see my invites being declined with no explanation and no suggested new times. I called 2-3 times per week for 2 weeks and finally got a reply..."Werkzeug, I got your message. I am still working on this. If you need to reach me, call the office, not my cell phone."
Fuuuuuuuuuuck. Then again, it wasn't a no, so I persisted.
I switched tacks to send a weekly email. After I didn't get a response to the 3rd email (which was firm, but polite), I opened the deal to put it in closed lost. Before I could make the mouse click, an email arrived from the prospect with the materials I needed, beautifully organized.
After a month of redlines and a trip through our internal sales prevention unit, we've got signatures and an onboarding call on the calendar.
Turns out, they changed CEOs over the summer and shit was bananas on their end. I'm glad it worked out, but the lack of communication from their end was exhausting.
