This was a relatively easy one. The client came inbound looking for help on a specific project. Always love those. I met with them, gave the harbor tour, found out about what they were trying to accomplish, and sent them a quote. In the bag, right?
LOL. A couple days later, I get a ping from someone on our AM team. Turns out my prospect's boss is already a client of ours and has used us for similar projects in the past. By past, I mean the distant past where we would charge well below what we should have charged, just to get the market share. This guy asked the AM for the same crazy discounts for this new project. At this point, I'm like welp, this deal is trash. If they want to pursue those lower rates, they are welcome to, but I'm not going to be involved, and left it at that.
A week later, the original prospect called me out of the blue, apologized for his boss swooping in and trying to take over the deal, and asked me to send the contract just to him with the rates WE discussed and he'd sign it.
Bing Bang Boom. Merry Christmas, Hallelujah, Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?
