What Do You Think About Alex Hormozi?

He's obviously not a scam. If that's your opinion, maybe make your point.

Just look at all the practical free content he's putting out. 

I feel like I'm advertising for him. But i am not, regardless of the side effects. 

After watching his shpill broz, I said "fuck it" to being NOT accepted for a job I worked my ass off to get. 3rd interview and everything. 

Anyways.

So wtf is he doing right? Everything? 

What would you add to his "teachings" for someone like myself? I'm dealing with Imposter syndrome, loneliness, depression, etcfuckingterra you know?

What works for one person dosn't mean it will work for others. I would never use him as my influencer (there are items on his list that can have a negative effect on someone physically), there are people much more qualified to be a mentors who are dead and alive. That's just me, I can't speak for anyone else.

And - besides the snarky post I made, you do seem to be going through a lot. Besides browsing LI, add you doing anything else for yourself? Impostor syndrome raises its ugly head quite a bit and I’d say that’s fairly normal for anybody who is honest with themselves. But the depression and loneliness are concerning.

I’m not a therapist, so my recommendation would be to consider seeing one. The group here is great for decompressing and getting out of sales funks, but not serious issues such as you expressed. Best to get some help from a professional.

He’s definitely not the best resource for W2 sales people, since he doesn’t teach any hard skills for sellers (he doesn’t teach scripts, tools, deliverability, etc.), but for side hustlers and entrepreneurs, he’s providing more value than most high-ticket courses, 100% for free.

The fact is, driving revenue as a solo entrepreneur or SMB — and staying alive when you have essentially no runaway, no idea how to get leads (or even what a “lead” is), no idea what a tech stack is, and you’ve never heard of a CRM — is VERY different from what most people in this community would think of as “sales.”

These are the primary people Hormozi serves.

- The music teacher trying to grow from $35k ARR to $60k ARR.

- The ecommerce seller trying to grow from $120k ARR to $250k ARR

- The small niche marketing agency trying to grow from $3M ARR to $10M ARR

These are businesses that primarily survive on founder-led sales and exceptional customer success (which they would likely refer to as customer service, since they wouldn’t be plugged in with enterprise jargon).

These businesses don’t have the budget to hire a full-time salesperson, can’t afford ZoomInfo, have never heard of Sales Nav, and are probably hosting their website in Squarespace or GoDaddy.

Entrepreneurship has a lot of overlap with sales, particularly when it comes to facing a shit load of pressure, rejection, and failure, as well as little to no stability or predictability.

However, there are big differences.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but, in sales, you’ve likely got a defined territory, mentors, a lead list of numbers to dial, solid SOPs to follow, a tight ICP, and a strong brand behind you (that YOU aren’t solely responsible for building), AND a base salary to feed you while you pursue opportunities. Your job is to leverage those advantages well and optimize your productivity and performance.

Business owners have none of that infrastructure — they have to build it first, and then HIRE salespeople to work it for them. Very different task. This is the situation that Hormozi speaks to.

I’m a huge Hormozi fan. His advice significantly changed my life and business in 2023.

For the last few years, I’ve been working day jobs (stocking shelves and bussing tables mostly) while doing freelance marketing on the side.

(Long story short, I bailed on a supply chain career in 2018 and then taught myself marketing for a few years while scraping out a living as a working musician and handyman in Tampa, then people started asking me for help with marketing stuff, so I started selling marketing services instead. Discovered I liked hunting opportunities, building relationships, and selling WAY more than I liked marketing, so that’s why I’m here — I want to become an SDR so I can rip dials and get yelled at all day.)

In 2023, for the first time, I made more money from self-employment than from my day jobs, and it’s pretty much entirely due to implementing Hormozi’s advice. (I made $15k from W2 work and $20k from self employment last year — just $3k short of the most money I’ve made any year, ever).

While he’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, Hormozi’s content had a massive positive impact on my life. I also appreciate that he’s well-read in philosophy and psychology, since those are two passions of mine.
