What ever happened with the Bravado identity leak?

I remember seeing something on here a while back about an email that went out with everyone's username / LinkedIn profile, but I never received the email myself nor looked into it any further.

did anything ever come of this? an official response from Bravado / Sahil? a guarantee that it won't happen again (though not sure that matters because it's all public now..)

also, what was in there besides user name and real identity?

really just curious more then anything as I wasn't using the WR much at the time, so I missed any chatter about it

I’ve never heard about this. I don’t get emails from the platform and never saw a post. The issue was the app defaulted to people’s real names instead of anon usernames.

I'm in the same boat as PBC. I recall it as described here, but never anything about an email with everyone's identity.

@Armageddon do you have a link or anything that shows it how you laid it it? I'm curious..

Also, there's a lot of us - that email would be massive.

Might be those letters that went out highlighting people "on the Bravado platform" but using their real names from their LI profiles/real profile. If I remember right, the email had 3-4 people who used Bravado, but under their real names, and in my case, one of them was an LI contact.

Yeah I guess I had mis-read a comment way back when that was explaining what happened. Apparently an email went out with a few peoples names, but no link to their handle. When I read it at the time I had though and email went out with all users real identity and then I totally forgot about it until now

I never saw it myself, I saw chatter about it here in the WR and someone told me there was an email that went out, but I couldn’t find it in my inbox at the time. I can try to find the WR thread because it was on a post I had made

it wasn't a "leak" Bravado had been putting out emails to show the caliber of people in here and people didn't like it. Sahil responded it was made out to be a bigger deal than it was to be honest

Well, it was also unfortunate timing with the comment toggle change where you could use your real name or continue with your anon handle - and it would default to your real name every time, leading to self-doxing by many of us.

Didn't take it that way. Some people were definitely more freaked out about it than others. I wasn't happy about my actual name showing up here, but was able to toggle it back pretty quickly the 2-3 times it happened.

Ah gotcha, yeah I didn’t really know what happened, I just saw some posts about it, asked a few questions about what was going on and got vague answers (cause it was just happening at the time) and then I went dark on here for a while. Completely forgot about it until I used the mobile app the other day and realized how easy it was to switch to personal mode on mobile.

Not sure why I thought it was a massive email blast, I must have misread a post way back when explaining what was happening
