To be fair, I actually sometimes do. I sit on some of our company's dev update meetings that I'm listening to but not really participating in. It's good to know what's going on, but I'll often answer if I'm not talking and don't recognize the number.
If it's money I'll minimize and handle it. If they're trying to sell me shit I'll honestly say I'm in a meeting.

Yeah, I hate getting that. Sometime you get a call when itโs out. Other times it means they are dodging you. Always a hard game to play.
I usually try sensing it from the tone. If that person is in a meeting, and is polite - I assume that person is not lying If the person is rude, I assume that they just want out so they are lying and have almost no intentions to buy

Those are always fun. If they're rude/sassy about it and not the DM I'll be like "oh...you picked up your phone...and you're in a meeting why would you do that?"
