I constantly use the, "I don't have the hair to be a used car salesman" line to explain how trustworthy I am. LOL it funny to say it out loud but it works (plus I'm bald so they laugh).

I feel like the comment from the prospect/customer is outdated.
Brings up images of a 1950's used car salesman. We're way beyond that now.
Not to say that we don't gloss over problems, every company or product has them, but the comment overall feels old and outdated.

Well don't know honest but I have been praised for being open
It’s the stigma that we see all too much. I find that it has died out a little now that everything is digital/trackable to the point where reputation follows you. But yea, it is still there.

I've heard this and it usually is the start of a long winded "thanks so much for your honesty and patience, you're the best, but we're not going to be able to buy this right now"

I usually shrug it off with something like “Haha yes, I like helping where I can, and xyz is where we really make a difference”. Keep it simple, being too witty might prove their point.

Then I’m game! I take it everyday in a male dominated industry, and put them in their place. That’s second nature by now, gotta have thick skin.
