I worked at Red Hat in a past life. It could be a very decent and secure job, assuming IBM hasn't Blue Washed the org- I believe they haven't.

With the acquisition by IBM a few years back, I know some reps who have landed 8-digit figures while other parties have done most of the work- both reps now have cushy management roles.

Know the value prop behind supported open-source, the significance of RHEL, OpenShift, etc. Have a plan 30-60-90 before reaching out to this bloke. Note your experience working with system integrators, resellers, boutique VARs, etc.

At the min, you should ask for a 140-160k base.
