Sales becoming a synonym with "not my job, let's make sales do it"
Literally, with a tiny exception of integration calls, it feels like I (and my team) have to do f*^ing everything (including legal and billing)

Umm... are there no legal or finance departments at your company? That seems incredibly irresponsible to not delegate that work to pros in that area.

We gave both!! 🤬They are "too busy" for minor changes and for chasing payments
Too busy to chase payments? Holy cow. I mean, our finance team will ask us for help if they are having issues finding the correct person, or something is not working, but they do a LOT of work to get the invoices together and chase things down. Keeping the revenue coming in IS THEIR JOB.
Oh boy, the growing pains of being at a company where it seems that the only competent department is sales. So hey, let's break sales too by having them handle everything else!

You have my sympathies. Hopefully this too will pass for you. In our case, the company finally fixed a few of the issues, and the sales team is back to selling most of the time.

It's been a minute. There were some moments there where it felt like we were managing marketing and legal as well, but thank goodness they were mostly short term so we didn't fall behind as those divisions got their shit together.

Yes, that happens a lot. I get really really pissed when that happens. So I use this when I feel it's not my job:
- Hey, I think this is out of my purview, because the sales cycle should not include post sales processes or paper signing process. As per the definition, it is POST SALES for a reason. Having me included takes away my bandwidth on other potential deals I could be working on.
But also - keep a check on yourself, if you are reacting out of bias or out of habit or if it's a genuine reason. It's important to not push back every single time, but just when it is needed.

yeah it sucks. In the past I think it was the other way around. But they noticed that we need it more than them since our commish is dependent on it
