£45K BASE £65-75k OTE worth it?

Hey fellow savages

Got my first ever SDR interview a few days ago. Series D AI b2b company selling to corporates and financial firms.

Is this compensation worth it?

£45K BASE £65-75k OTE worth it?

Previously I had a few small businesses that made decent money.

I have done a few sales roles for non tech companies to date and generated 7 figure revenues, I dont know If I am selling my self short here?

For SDR in London, I don't think it's bad. Based on your experience though, I would negotiate for AE and 10-15k higher.

Yeah the issue is, they will not take me on as an AE. I can still try though of course.

Okay well I'm sure you might have other options. However if you like the company then I'm sure you'll get a promotion soon with your experience

Yeah good point, I think I can definitely do much better than their SDRs usually there hiring grads who have very little sales experience.

Curious why are you looking at SDR role instead of an AE role?

Pay outlined isn’t bad but as an AE you’d easily be $65-100k base.

I tried applying to loads of AE roles without getting any interviews, so I started applying for SDR roles. I might apply to more AE roles maybe at smaller start-ups or something.

Seconded. Though the base and OTE are in harmony with the merry UK market, you should be chasing the thrill of an AE role.

When you say you made decent money, is it the same, way more that you are being offered?

Not on the high end but not far off from market average depending where you live for a first time SDR role

I have no idea what the U.K. market looks like, but this is bad for the US

First ever SDR role? You posted your resume which states you were an SDR before as well as an AE.

So I have been an SDR and an AE but only for tiny start-ups with less than 20 employees and non-recognisable brands; also at almost every sales role I have had, since I was the first sales hire, there were no quotas to hit or targets to meet.

I still applied to like 20 AE roles, though with no success. Had 2 SDR interviews so far.

As an SDR it's a fair offer. I had this OTE as an AE in London.

Yeah I screwed up the negotiation because I wanted it too bad.

It was a bad experience tbh. But that was because of the first time micro manager I had as a boss

I see, what are you doing now? Are you an AE some where else now?

Good luck in your search friend. It's always harder when you feel the desperation.
