A question for women about International Women’s Day

Is it just me or should guys just shut the fuck up on LinkedIn regarding International Women’s Day and let the women do the talking?

I’m genuinely curious about how women feel about seeing men make pandering LinkedIn posts. Feels like all the influencer types come out of the woodwork but it comes across as just a self serving move to curate a progressive professional brand… Thoughts?

P.S. Happy International Womens Day, y’all 💩

I’m prepared to eat some humble pie if I’m way off on this one.

Women only: Is it cringe for men to post on LinkedIn about International Womens Day?

If it’s virtue signaling or some kind of corporate-speak to somehow make it seem like you care … yawn. It’s not that the sentiment is unappreciated, it just honestly isn’t that interesting.

However, if it’s someone who is genuinely recognizing someone else specifically for her contributions or something special, that’s fantastic. Taking the opportunity to recognize someone with sincerity is awesome, appreciated, and rare.

My thing with that @Sunbunny31, why do they have to wait for the one day labeled "women's day" to express the "gratitude or appreciation" for said woman.

Just do it any day.

They don't have to wait, but sometimes a "day" is a good reminder to people to say meaningful things.

I don't mind getting recognition on Mother's Day - but yes, it's great to get thanked the rest of the year as well.

And the appreciation works on non label normal days too 😏

Exactly! I saw a few that were truly thoughtful and thanking different women on the team for specific contributions but otherwise, it’s annoying and definitely has pandering vibes

I think being specific is key. If it's generic it's cringe. If it's specific and heartfelt then it can be okay.

BUT it should also happen every day, as @antiASKHOLEsaid

there is for sure a right way and a wrong way.

i think you can celebrate women in your life in a way that is supportive. but of course there are idiots that end up making it about THEM then the women they are trying to support,

As a whole, women’s equity has been a lot of talk and little action. Being in a field where about 10% of the sales workforce is female, I’ve found that “equity” is more lip service than true action. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to hear that men recognize the inequity… if it’s a sincere belief and they would actually work toward or support making changes toward these inequities. Unfortunately, we (as women) are a long way from true equity in our society. All I can say is BABY STEPS.

@CadenceCombat you’re on a heater these days!

I think it’s cringe as fuck, if you truly appreciated women and wanted to celebrate their contributions to your life, you wouldn’t wait until some arbitrary day; you would be actively doing so through your actions.

LinkedIn has devolved into a cesspool of shameless content farming.

Most of the posts from dudes gave me the ick. The "look at my hot wife and I couldn't do it without her" posts especially. I saw so many of these and all I could think is, "I hope you're just as supportive of your wife's career."

I actually liked some of the posts that called out women that people work with and value. But I feel like those were rare in my feed.
