Am I wrong??

I have been with my current company 1.5 years, and when I joined this place, I have had 0 interest in being in any type of leadership role, training role, management etc.

I have always been a manager or shift lead in all my previous work places, but this job just wanted to only worry about me and be selfish.

Am I wrong if asked if I wanna take someone with me out door knocking and I say no.

I specifically said I don't want to, I will if you want me to, but I do not want to be responsible for the success of anyone else's success within the company.

I felt kinda bad, but also just don't wanna do it haha.

You’re not wrong. Not everyone wants to be or is capable of being a manager or trainer. At least you were honest instead of giving a trainee a half assed experience.

Agreed! The first time I was offered a 'leader' role, I turned it down. I did not feel as I was fit to be leader. A year later I got the same offer and accepted. I was ready, had new and more knowledge - and was ready for a new challenge. One has to do what feels right.

Why did you decline? Because you aren't comfortable with your product? Part of being on a team is helping each other out. 🤷‍♀️

I've only been in outside sales 1.5 months, and Idk just don't wanna deal with someone I do not know riding in my car, being all up in my personal space lmao.

I just don't think I would be doing my best feeling under pressure!

Not everyone wants to manage and that's totally okay! We should all welcome high-performing ICs who want to grow that way.

You're not wrong, but you're also limiting that other's person's growth.

Are they asking you because you are successful, and based on that success, can bestow best practices and tools onto new or struggling reps?

You are not managing them, but you can help them. You at some stage of your career needed help--so what's the harm in returning the favor?

I have only been in outside sales 1.5 months. (I was a BDR) I don't feel successful. I am finding a lot of opportunities, but only have closed 2 deals so far.

I don't know tbh tho. I do not think I am skilled enough since I am still learning myself.

Then I would reply with that to give context rather than just saying "no", which I am sure you've done in some way.

You should'nt apologize or feel bad for being honest. Not only are you doing yourself a favor - but you are also during the company a favor! Massive respect for you being honest.
