Never been to a conference in Vegas. Sounds fun but potentially dangerous...
Vegas resident here - went out on the strip last month and the National Subway Convention (like the sandwich) people were out there going crazy.
I have been in Vegas for a conference and it was legit. Have some fun and don't get too crazy.

Pretty much anything you'd ever want to do + eat is here. Have some fun, gamble a little, go to a show you like (Chainsmokers are doing a residency at the Wynn, but there's also magic shows or whatever else you're into).
Tons of great restaurants here if you can swing that on the per diem.

OK, so I hijacked your post a little earlier this morning, so I'm going to provide you with a little advice from a Vegas conference pro.
1) stay hydrated. It's dry there. You will need a lot of fluids just for that reason. And if you fancy a few cocktails at the after show happy hours - you'll need even more.
2) don't do anything stupid around the conference attendees. It's a great way to make a terrible name for yourself or worse, get fired. I've seen both. Don't be that guy.
3) take off your badge if you're hitting the town or the tables. See #2.
4) hit the CVS or RiteAid near your hotel before you get started and stock up on waters/gatorade and lip balm if you forgot yours. Strip stores aren't cheap, but they are far less expensive than the hotel shops. There's an ABC in the Hard Rock/Miracle Mile shops too - good for less expensive items (though still expensive). Also a really great cheap seafood place in there if you need a rec and if you're not able to blow your expense budget.

Yeah, I haven't stayed, but have been through. Keep hearing really great things.
So far - really nice. They make you walk through the casino to get everywhere though. That being said, I'm sure many hotels do this as well.

You haven't seen anything yet. You can go to a 7/11 here and find slot machines.
Yeah, I heard of that. It really is a one-of-a-kind place. If I had to compare it to anywhere in the US I'd say Miami, but it's like Miami with Pyramids and shit.
Note that there’s also no in-room coffee… you have to leave your room if you want some (yes yes room service) and walk through the casino. Want dinner? Through the casino. Heading for the conference center? Yep, through the casino. It’s almost like that’s where they make their money. ;)
