Anyone know AE's at Keep Truckin? Someone close to me is evaluating a job oppty and I don't want to send them somewhere terrible

Hi everyone,

I referred a family member of mine to a Mid Market AE role at Keep Truckin'. As any super scaling company, they have a lot of reps who have been there 1-1.5 years and moved. I work at Lucid and know this is common in tech but also can be indicative of a low achievement environment where new people aren't set up to succeed. This is the person's first job in software after almost 20 years selling trucks/trailers, so they have relevant industry knowledge but no software experience.

Anyone have experience working at KT or know someone who did as an AE who can share more about the sales culture?

A ton of their AE's and sales leaders come from Yelp and I used to work with many of them. Expect a very high volume churn and burn mentality

Everything I've ever heard about Yelp business model makes me nauseous. They ran reviews like the mob!

I started my career there and learned a ton. There is value in it but there are also some major shortcomings with how they built the business. Reviews aside. I would be careful about working in a company that will produce the same culture.ย

Never worked at that organization but I have sold to the transpo/logistics industry for a few years and one thing I can say is that the owners at those places are extremely cheap. It always comes down to the bottom line and they will expect vendors to compete on price.ย

It's also a very relationship based industry, where DMs often choose to go with a friend/business contact over a stranger even if the stranger is offering something better.ย

That's all I can offer.

100% very cheap. They underpay a lot of positions but give you "options"ย

I second this opinion.ย  Logistics is a blood bath industry.ย  You win an account one month and you'll lose that account in 3-6 months cause your competitor throws some insane discounts.ย  It's a race to the bottom.ย ย

I had a friend leave after about a year there but I haven't spoken to him about it directly. He's good at sales though so if he's leaving after a year I have to imagine it's more to do with the company.ย

They should definitely connect with either someone who has worked there for a while in that role, or someone who used to and can tell them why they left. Or both if possible.
It's tough referring family friends for things, but at the end of the day it's their responsibility to vet the company thoroughly before taking an offer.

I have some experience with KT.ย

It's messy for AEs in my experience. Management doesn't really know what they are doing and there is a lot of churn.

However it is great in the SMB/Commercial segment. The product does really strong there and you can hit accelerators pretty quickly so people almost always make more than OTE. In MM and ENT it is a different story, so much so that Commercial AEs choose not to get moved up because the money is better in the smaller segment.ย

Hope that helps!

@Donutpanda Lucid is amazing. Iโ€™ve been here for 5 years and really love the people I work with, product is great. Def not perfect by any means but I enjoy whatโ€™s going on.
