Are remote jobs slowly disappearing?

Would love to hear what you all think, but as someone recently got laid off and is back on the job hunt again, it looks like there are fewer remote jobs. Is anyone else feeling the same?!

I see a ton of hybrids these days. It seems like companies want to get use out of the real estate they own/lease.

They're definitely reducing. Especially if you are looking at XDR roles, where honestly I do think there's value of being on site. Most remote roles Ive seen are closing roles where they want you in territory.

If you’re hunting for BDR jobs, Of course they want you in the office. It’s basically telemarketing and it’s a high touch environment.

And even with most AE roles - they want to be able to see and touch you. It’s how mngt feels they have some control.

There are plenty of remote sales jobs out there. But either you aren’t searching for them or you don’t qualify for them.

Definitely seems like they're disappearing outside Enterprise and set skills.

I don't think it's a feeling, it's fact...

I think for anyone looking for jobs, you need to be more intent and calculated in your approach.

I believe not, I guess you just need to expand your network a bit and your search too to involve various relevant recruiting sites & make sure to keep also that your resume is up to date, and finally advise you not to miss out the Who's hiring section posted by Gasty on a frequent basis!

Not surprised that they're going away from some roles, particularly ones typically at the start of one's career/lower seniority.

I think you'll probably find SDR roles as wanting to be on site. But hey, that's a strong reason to negotiate a higher base. Especially when you have experience.

Unfortunately, people view this role as lowest on the totem pole. And with that comes the idea that you need to be observed, "helped" and etc.

You have also been an SDR for quite a while. Why not seek out AE roles too + SDR roles?

Sorry to hear that. I see a lot of them Hybrid and On-site. Are you against these options?

If you're not in a tech hub, those options probably require relocation. With or without assistance, it's still a pain. I know for me, there are very few tech companies headquartered in my city. There is a big tech hub about 90 minutes or so north of here, so commuting for the right role wouldn't be too terrible, but still not ideal.

New AE hires were remote before coming to my company which is not remote. Seems to be the trend.

I am seeing cost reduction schemes across the board inside my industry. My company is short on cash and is selling off office space / campuses. The only on-site employees are those who have to be. AT&T is collapsing their offices to nine regional office across the country - if you are in management, you are required to report into one of these nine offices twice a week. If you can't, your're toast.

I'm just a humble sales guy and among my peers I seem to be one of the few that thinks working remotely 100% is dumb as hell. Doesn't matter if it's an escalation or whatever, sometimes you just need to stand at someones desk to get shit done.

I have noticed most companies will offer a hybrid role if possible. As a sales company, we want all our employees in the office every day. The managers have a better understanding and interaction with the reps. Morale, involvement, and productivity are higher when everyone is under the same roof.
Now this is scalable for larger corporations with support teams that work remotely because you do not always need them in the office.
However, I believe most jobs will become a version of Hybrid with the companies having the ability to dictate the number of work-from-home days.
Many employees are still hiding behind WFH policies and are not as productive because of the lack of management or oversight.

Not seeing that in London. I would say foot traffic is down 25% still as I can always get a seat on the subway. Have not seen the office ever more than 70% full and that only because the Global boss came in.

And Christina - with 4 whole years of experience under your belt, you many want to review your cliche-filled professional summary you have on your profile here, assuming it’s the same you use on your resume. Your first two sentences are ok, the rest though is complete garbage.

You should also reevaluate your experience. 13 jobs in 7 years is A LOT. I hope that is not the list your use in your resume because you don’t just look like a job hopper - you are a job hopper. It’s the very definition of one, regardless of circumstances.

Then there’s the simple math - in your personal description you say 4 years of experience, but as I looked at your experience I see it dated back to 2016. That’s 7 year-ish years.

Giving you tough love here ( the watered down version too). You need to invest in a good resume writer and maybe a career coach.
