Are there any BDRs that don’t actually hate what they do?

Any BDRs out there that actually don't absolutely dispise their work?

Edit: maybe I feel this way because I came from D2D solar. Don't have fond memories of doing that.

My story: Finally broke into software sales. 1 month in. We have a great product that actually helps our businesses. We've never been told to lie or do anything that's immoral in our training. We ask permission to pitch before every decision maker. They just lowered our SQL a few months ago before I joined and we're getting another new comp plan that my manager said will make us more money. Speaking of my manager, I actually like him. Granted it's only been a month but we hit nic on our 1:1s and hes definitely more laid back then I would have expected and he doesn't micro manage. I aim for 60 calls a day also.

I either joined a very decent company OR I haven't worked here long enough. Or I'm a worthless bdr that doesn't know what he's saying. lmk

Cute...bless your heart. Come back with a report when you're six months in. If your soul hasn't disintegrated into charcoal by then, I'll buy u a keg of Kahlua.

Not a terrible deal, although I'm more of a Drumstick gal myself. That chocolate nugget hits different.

I'm being half-serious...but in reality, everyone finds something they don't enjoy about their job. However, I personally enjoy 60% of what I do and the 40% of the bullshit is less catastrophic when you realize you can't control other humans.

You will always get a mix in the audience - many love many hate their job.

SDRs that came from other industries/jobs they hated tend not to hate the SDR job as much. That’s how I was. Did I like the job? No. Was it a massive upgrade from working 60 hours/week in a previous job I legit hated? Yes. I was just grateful to be there and working toward the job I wanted (AE). Gratitude goes a long way with job satisfaction. Good on you for ditching what you were doing before and breaking into tech.

Hey, appreciate the reply. Certainly. I forgot to mention that I came from D2D solar from a very over saturated market in California.

You need to embrace the grind. Let it make you sharp. It will tear away the soft bits and teach you to grab the balls of life.
And then you get that sweet promo into closing!

I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. I just know that the skills I’m learning will help me perform as an AE.

you're going to likely be doing high volume activity which means you'll lose astronomically more than you win. That wears on people.

If you can shift your mindset to see 3 wins vs 97 losses, you'll make it.

I’m an SDR - some days (even weeks) are better than others. You already have selling experience with an awful D2D model so I understand why this is a MUCH nicer job for you. Truth is no job is perfect, you can’t control other people, and you will never get 100% on any activity you do… specially as a BDR. But you will be fine. And make good money. So yeah, love it for what it is - a new beginning. And love it for what it’s not - predictable and steady. My only advice is to have a sense of humor no matter what. Welcome to SADNESS 🤗

It'll drain you little by little. Everyday takes a bit off your life and once that honeymoon phase is over, it's more of a welcome to the suck feeling

It's a love/hate relationship. But now I don't stop myself from buying the good shit from trader Joe's. Everything has its ups and downs.

My ups are those artisan dark chocolate covered coffee beans, that's the good shit. Just keep grinding is all I have to say, you'll have bad days and there will be pretty shitty days, but try and celebrate the small wins when you can.

I started in D2D telecom. D2D was a fucking blast. I had so much fun. . The phone game is a huge paradigm shift. And it is an improvement when you’re not pounding the pavement all day. . That said, you’re going to meet your fair share of shitbags, and be blown away by how awful some people can be when you’re not outside they’re door and they have to face the repercussions of slamming the door or telling you no. The phone, and relative anonymity in general makes people the worst version of themselves.

Do you still wear a full suit to your 1st meeting with a prospect, or is that completely dust now and feel like a used car salesman?

When a lead answers the phone for the first time in history only to scream at me to stop calling my first reaction is to laugh really loud. I don't even think about it.
