Base:Commissions Ratio

I've heard the sales standard is 60:40 (base to commissions), but in SaaS it's usually closer to 50:50. Do you find this to be true and/or fair or is there more flexibility?

Less flex with established orgs with established process. All over the map with early ones.

50/50 is what I usually see. I'm closer to 60/40 as I pushed for it, and had some leverage. Smaller organization though. As @oldcloser said you'll have less flexibility at bigger/more established spots.

Iโ€™ve had 55/45 before, but the majority of roles over the years in tech have been 50/50.

50/50 for AE 99% of the time. 80/20 for SDR 99% of the time.

I mostly see 50/50 however I think the 60/40 should be the standard

SaaS role, 50/50. Ask for some RSU's too.

50/50 is typical yes, but I`d always negotiate a larger base whenever I can. You just have to have that security , especially with startups, scale-ups etc..

Not sure if SaaS is intrinsically different from services, hardware etc 50/50, 60/40 both very common. Ratio driven by maturity of solution/company, length of sales cycle etc - not unusual to see 70/30 for role with >> 6 months cycle, no/minimal inherited pipeline etc. Also sales can be partially comp'd with MBOs in early stages - so $XK for securing vendor registration/master purchase agreement etc even if no actual deal closed etc
