Best cold emails in 2023?

Given the economic headwinds, it feels like a lot of companies are less willing to explore alternative options to their existing tech-stack. Personally, I'm experiencing a lower-than-usual response rate in my cold emails & it's been really tough to build pipeline for the past few months.

I'm usually pretty good at emailing, but so far in 2023 i've seen a big drop-off in response rates (and in turn, introduction meetings). I'm hoping to hear from the larger community what cold emails have been working well for you so far this year!

Short tailored emails, then follow up only saying "would you be opposed to learning more" is by far my most successful template

"it feels like a lot of companies are less willing to explore alternative options to their existing tech-stack"

CFOs are LITERALLY telling their teams to do this. The boards are backing them up and building OKRs around it. You need to gain a CFO's attention before you go elsewhere.

Focus your efforts for rip and replace opportunities and go right to CFOs, COOs, VP/Director of Finance or Operations, Procurement leaders, etc. Get their buy-in on the economics and ask them who to talk to about the tech fit.

Everyone I've talked to is looking to run leaner, consolidate, look at alternatives, etc., so I agree! Very few companies are actually looking to stay status-quo right now, even if they think they're clever when they tell you that (for leverage or whatever). They're all looking.

Back to basics here - why do they need to talk to you? Work on the why. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Love this. I recently downloaded an article from a sales coach on LinkedIn, and they mentioned how to prospect CROs and CFOs as they are the top decision maker to spend on a product. They would be the ones to say yay or nay if the investment doesn't make sense.

Ah unfortunately that link isnโ€™t working for me. Do you have the person who posted it? Happy to dig it up on my own

I was an early adopter of ChatGPT back in November before anyone knew of "master prompting," hell, I didn't even know back then. Trial and error. Anyways, I started prompting it to "Act like the Director of Government Relations at XYZ company and list their top 3 2023 initiatives." and bam, it listed their initiatives, and then I went further and said, "Now give me 3 symptoms based their top 3 initiatives."

It listed their "symptoms," and then I went further and said, "Act like the Director of Governments at XYZ company and list their top 3 challenges for 2023. List concise bullet points only. I will add their LinkedIn summary or job description at the bottom."I copied and past their job description or summary, and then voila, ChatGPT broke it down into three concise bullet points

I screenshotted the challenge section and copied it to the email with the subject line "Sound familiar?" and then added a sentence above the screenshot and a "solution" and an interest CTA under the screenshot.

Two sentences, tops.

I got the prospect's attention, and he wanted a meeting.

My advice, be an "outside of the box" emailer. These prospects see the same stuff in their email box daily, so change it up and be creative and bold.

Most of the companies I have spoken too are against trying or adopting new solutions this year. Response rate for me wasnโ€™t impressive at least in Q1.

Has almost nothing to do with your email copy, and everything to do with your Cole Email Infrastructure. If you dont have your own set-up with domains and diversified email accounts, you arent even making it into your targets inbox, let alone getting past their spam folder.

Idk if I'm insane but I'm sorta inexperienced too. I like to MAKE THE SUBJECT LINE A QUESTION to make it seem like I'm a customer so they don't throw me into junk mail. I ask people a lot of questions just like women and listen to all their problems and then diagnosis them with our product. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ
