Best TCG

I was recently having a discussion with one of my sales colleagues. We realized we were both into trading card games as kids. I really like Digimon, he really liked Pokémon, and we were arguing which TCG was the best off all time. So, I thought why not ask the community

Which Trading Card Game did you play as a kid or are still playing?

Oh no you didn't!! YUGI was the real game! change my mind! Pokemon lacks a side deck and the ability to add the amount of cards you want, making yugi a more strategic game.

I played pokemon and for standard play it was pretty much the same as magic. I dont know what or if there is an older card play for pokemon but for magic modern play is very expensive
MrPotter

About the same I think, maybe magic is a bit more expensive due to it being more popular in the large scheme of things. And pokemon has the advantage that core draw and engine cards work for nearly every deck, so switching main decks is slightly easier.

Oooo I see. Is commander more or less affordable than modern? I believe many of the good legendaries are sort of expensive?

Commander is middle of the road, there is an official "ban" list but you can build a pretty cheap commander deck. Best part is there is no rotation or anything so once you get one you can just play with it and not worry about having to get more

Played Yu gi oh as a kid, but only had sisters to grow up with who werent that into it, neither were many of my friends. at 18 years old I was on mushrooms with some pals one night and went to a party....lo and behold there was a magic the gathering tournament going on. My mind was blown. I found my people and was able to get my game on for a couple of years, until I didn't have the time anymore. Overall it has to be MTG. without MTG we wouldn't have any other card game. It is the pioneer of TCG's.

Huge Pokémon fan here (Pokémon go, Pokémon game boy games, tv show, etc) and I loved collecting the cards growing up. I still have my binder of cards. My brother and I never learned how to play officially so we just played our own “War” version where we would both play a card and whosever had the highest HP won that round lol
