Can’t land interviews even with referrals

Anyone land an AE job recently? Even with referrals im struggling to even land an interview.

how did you do it and what was your process?

getting seriously demoralized over here to the point I'm not even sure if I should stay in sales/SaaS. I guess at minimum I could get an SDR role but seems crazy to start over like that.

any wins recently?

Recently been in many interview processes over past 2+ months. More than happy to share a bit (mainly was networking lots and lots and lots) as well as referrals and applications (but id say it’s a full time job).

Maybe what could help even more is - what are you looking for? Are you an sdr now looking to land an AE role? Where are you finding companies or what types of roles/companies are you looking for? I think a bit more context may be helpful here!

Also - when it comes to referrals - are these people you know well recommending you and then even a recruiter doesn’t give you a call? That’s where what lambycorn may be a good point about possibly your CV. Lots of info you can find on CVs here but you can also redact any personal info on your CV and post it here for help as well

Agree wholeheartedly. The kind of referral is going to be important. A former manager or colleague is going to carry significantly more weight than a casual acquaintance. Also, let’s have a look at that redacted CV and see if the group can help.

Are you going for smb or what type of AEs roles? Given your 3 months of AE experience going for one’s that require more experience might be tough to get an offer

normally a referral is really strong. What is the feedback you are getting?

You're getting referred but not even getting an initial meeting?

I'd suspect either:
1) Your resume is lackluster. Post an anonymous version here for feedback.

2) The people you're asking for referrals aren't positioning you in a good light.

3) You're applying for jobs you aren't qualified for.

November and December are tough months to interview in. January will pick up a lot.
