A little bit of everything.

Also, check the search bar. There have been many discussions, and you may find interesting perspectives. This subject comes up a lot.

Read every book on every methodology and take every training. This way, you become paralyzed with contradictory information that lead to unhealthy levels of anxiety and gnarly substance abuse issues.

Be most curious person in the world
Ask about everything you can think of related to sales
Listen to what prospect says and ask some more questions

At the core of it, it is pretty straight forward

Spin Selling is my Fav,believe what also matters when choosing one is the type of the pitched product and the prospects you're pitching to!

It’s not so much the methodology, but the realization that you need to continually improve and fight complacency. Once you act on that, you’ll find you have an open mind to other approaches and can really create your own process from what works best for you.

If that doesn’t work, then SADNESS is really the only option.

Hilarious comments here because this is such a broad question.

From my experience there are 5 steps for most b2c sales. I have had many “sales” jobs and countless pro training sessions and this suffices IN GENERAL:

1) Introduction - Meet and greet

2) Qualify - Build rapport and develop a deep understanding for the client’s needs. (People only buy from people they like).

3) Product walkthrough - Increase excitement by showcasing the services / products provided in application, explaining the solutions to the clients pain points. **Make sure you keep the pain points and solutions for them on repeat in your conversation(s).**

4) Pitch - Negotiation (product/ service specific)

5) Close - Self explanatory.

5.5) Follow-up - Whether you made the deal or not, you’ve always got to follow-up and ask for referrals and prospect for more potential business through the relationship(s) you’ve built.

I hope you realize that there are lengthy courses on each of these steps, but in my opinion, the most vital steps are the ones you should start with: 2, 3, and 5.5.

How to win friends and influence people. Read it every year. In software sales, I like to use Sandler with MEDDIC.

Force Management is the only one I’ve ever practiced and taken with me. I’m not a robot about it, but overall it provides the best framework.
The key is that you need a product with a fit in a market that has a budget line item established with buyers for it to be truly effective. If you’re creating a market or selling something without a budget line item already in play, it’s very tough because the variability in the buying process is so vast.
I was a manager twice (line 1) and every AE who worked for me was genuinely thankful to learn about two-sided questions and the proper way to use MEDDPICC. They made a lot of money.

It is like hitting a baseball. Lots of methodologies with only one outcome desired- make loud out, big fly will come.
Pick one methodology that works for you and stick with it. Practice that method daily.
