Cold Contacting Recruiters?

Per the title, anyone ever try cold emailing/calling 3rd party recruiters, especially ones that recruit for a particular sector?

So not internal recruiters/HR but recruiting companies like XYZ Search or whatever. Although I imagine with tech being down a lot are out of biz lol.

I'm tempted to reach out to these recruiters with a quick summary and ask if they're recruiting for any positions.

Thanks!

You should absolutely do this. Reach out, send a resume, and make a friend.

They should love this given their whole job is trying to find you. Would be like a prospect calling me and asking for a contract.

Hi, thats a good idea. They have a network of clients and can facilitate introduction if they deem your profile a potential fit. I 've done that in the past.

I`ve tried this with not much success. I managed to create a couple of warmish relationships but not one job add came out of it. What worked better for me (and my wife for that matter) was reaching out, cold outreach directly to hiring managers, decision makes, co-founders in startups etc.

If you`re not married to the idea of landing a job at a large organizations, I think you can land a interview at least by targeting chief revenue officers, co founders, VPs of sales at smaller, start up types of companies. Just cut the middleman :)

You should absolutely cold, call recruiters and reach out to them, as general good advice.

Most recruiters pride themselves on the extent of their networks. They will be happy to take your rรฉsumรฉ and probably have a five minute conversation about what you are looking for. But that is all I would ever expect from them, until they have a role youโ€™re a fit for

Really good idea. Makes their job a lot easier since youโ€™re giving yourself on a silver platter, apposed to them sifting through a shit load of people. Let us know if you find some success!
