One of the best "team building" outings I ever went on with a company was a paintball outing.
We mixed up the teams quite a bit so that we all had the opportunity to fight alongside and against everyone in the company.
Leadership rolls were established and frequently changed up, providing a new insight into leadership for those of us that were in such a role as well as for those that weren't.
One of the best activities/games we played was VIP. This is where one person is designated the VIP on each team and they enter the arena without a weapon. The goal is to eliminate the opposite team's VIP while keeping yours alive. The whole point was to help establish trust between team members.
We walked away from the outing a lot closer as a team and honestly things at work were even improved. Our CEO told us that part of the purpose of the outing was to teach leadership the pitfalls of "micromanaging" and to provide insight to others how managing didn't come without it's challenges.
Totally worked.
What are some other team building exercises that ya'll have seen actually work? (because there are a lot that don't)
