Do companies actually reach back out?

I've been through 5 final round interviews in the past couple months where I was rejected for another candidate. In your experience, have the companies that passed you over ever re-engaged with you?

It’s rare but some do. I’m at my current company now after being passed on for an internal candidate.

I recently got an email from a company about something like that, but it was from their system and not a recruiter. I hadn't interviewed either, just applied quite some time ago.

Not with me personally, but at a previous company we hired a rep and it was clear within the first month that he wasn't going to be a good fit. The company let him go and called the next candidate on the list that they had interviewed and offered him the gig.

Sometimes they keep you in their talent pool and do reach out

They do keep you in the candidate pool. It wouldn't hurt for you to reach out after a month or so as well.

Yeah, they reach out to those that make it through. it's shitty that they don't reach out to update others in the process.

Never with me. I even had one that offered me, I declined and told me to reach back out if anything changes and I texted him and he left me on read.

I'd say that is extremely rare. Never has happened to me and my sample size is huge. Recently happened to a friend but they were denied due to location but then came around later.

Although I had the same situation as @wolfoftampa except I reached back out and they did indeed end up giving me the role.

Yes, but if you're given a timeline (which you should've asked for) use that as youre reference as to when to reach back out yourself.

Never happened with me, if I am rejected I haven't ever received anything again. I fail with flying colors 🤣

It can happen but not quickly usually a year after the other person was the wrong hire and you were the better choice (sadly)

Better question is would you want to work for a company that originally passed on you?

I wrestle with this quite a bit. I'm kind of thinking about it like this: would I sell to a customer who passed on me previously? ofc i would.

Sometimes they do. I don't usually take the time unless it is a very desireable position with a very desireable company

Guys! I need help! Here I am laid off again! This time I haven’t secured anything and the market isn’t the same as last year when I was laid off. Im from the UK.. do you know any good tech companies that are hiring in the UK who will notpotentially have to lay people off in the next 12 months?
