Never used it but I don't like their LinkedIn presence.

Recording demos is fine, but I can't imagine having a recording disclaimer on cold calls.

Truly dont understand the benefit of Gong when you need to do a disclaimer

Exactly. Connecting with people during a cold call and getting them to listen is hard enough. You should have enough trust for that during a demo though.

We have Chorus.ai - which also records calls, provides insights, transcripts, etc.

We are not required to use it, particularly if the customer doesn't want it.

What I do like about this kind of technology:

- the transcript feature. While not perfect, it's pretty accurate and can help me quickly find sections of the conversation I want to review.
-it captures next steps. Also not perfect but fairly accurate.
-while I still take notes, since there will be a transcript, I can relax a bit if the customer is speaking quickly. I may not have to ask them to repeat themselves in order to capture everything. This is a nice feature.

What I don't like
-enablement always looking for KPIs. I'm positive there will be some tied to Chorus/discovery, etc. Sigh.

I voted 3 because I like the idea of having a record of my calls, but don’t like big brother 👁

They tapped our voip phones and didnt tell us or have a notification for the end client which is considered misdemeanor wiretapping for each call in my state. Finding that out early into our use of it made me not love them.

Having used them for 6 months now, it provides a lot of value for new reps as they learn the new product and sales cycle at our company. For more veteran reps its kinda meh

I actually don't mind gong. The company itself is annoying as hell but for BDRs it's a good solution as long as your not calling a state that requires you to disclose call recording

Seems like an interesting way to discover what is actually working, and allow the sales team to get feedback from each other

^ we use it exactly for that. It’s helped me ramp much more quickly at my company because I find good discovery calls and demos from top reps that are crushing it.

I also send my calls to my manager and team lead to get feedback.

People don't like gong because of "big brother" and a variety of other valid reasons. I actually do like it because I can review my own calls to find where I can improve and also remember important things that my prospect says.

I like the idea of reviewing my own calls and listening to other top sellers in my org but I don’t like GONG for 3 reasons

- The big brother effect
- Leads leadership to track unrealistic KPIs
- All their reps suddenly are experts on LI

it's good for feedback, but hindsight is always 20/20. The only reason I use it for is to check for things I might have overlooked or notes in the call. The audio to text translation is god awful.

As a sales leader, I do see a lot of value in tools like Gong (there's a number of options out there), including:

-First, just simply having it automatic actually helps a lot of the reps out in case they forget to record it (which many did and then complained about it afterwards).
-Second, the AI does a pretty good job of classifying things, such as the fact that a deal is marked as closing in a month but there's been zero activity with the customer the last month. It serves as a good 'aide' to do some gut checks. You can set it so that it first warns the AE, which gives them some time to make updates, before it goes to management. This allows it to be more of a helper for an AE than a big brother.
-The AI also allows you to classify things like subjects or keywords. It's interesting (academically) to see the trends, like certain gaps or highlights or asks or capabilities coming up again and again. So this info would then be used beyond just sales, and with Marketing, Service, Product, etc.
-It's decent as a coaching tool; I personally am happy to have my sellers sell however they see fit, but if there's big things like the fact that they are constantly talking 90% of the time on every call, that's a bit of a catalyst to coach.

For my AE's, they've shared where Gong has been helpful in their direct work as well:

-Having it automatically recorded (as mentioned above).
-Because (in our case) every external call was automatically recorded, and because we had multiple teams of AE's (including specialist overlays), this means that even if an AE is 'kept out' of an account, they can independently listen in to calls and make sure they have what is up to speed. Not every company will face this, but medium/large software companies invariably have this problem with too many fingers in the pie.
-AE's found it useful as that reminder tool I mentioned for keeping abreast of key dates or things they needed to do.
-Some AE's found it useful to be able to pull up interactions by contact, so for example I could instantly see every interaction we had with the CXO of a certain company, and then remind themselves quickly of their style, directness, etc. It doesn't go as far as a Humantic AI in building you an actual profile (and they're in different businesses), but still helps a lot.

Recording your calls can be good, but don't believe the bullshit stats that gong publishes - I use phrases and words gong shits on, and they work for me.
