First Sales Job

Hi all, I'm new to this platform so I request patience if I seem rather naive.

I have been working on outbound lead generation for the past 2 years and thus far, I have gotten pretty well versed.

Now doing this for other clients (IT firms and Software dev firms).

However, my lacking area of expertise is without a doubt closing / sales.

I have not been on the phone enough with prospects, nor have I faced enough objections, nor do I have enough sales experiences overall.

I'm looking to take on a sales / closer position at a software company (or any online marketing niche), to sharpen my sales skills and improve my expertise for my own projects. I am willing to take on as many appointments per week as needed (currently working a full time job, but willing to quit if I see potential in an opportunity). Looking to be trained and taught well by someone who really pushes me to close deals and helps me learn.

This community seemed like a great place to network with other individuals and find potential opportunities, so I signed up, and wrote this post within 15 minutes of discovering it (lol).

Any insights or starting point directions would be great!

Thank you all!

note: I attempted to use the Bravado sales job search function, but it seems optimized for experienced sales employees.

Where are you located?

Iโ€™d consider a BDR or SDR role to get the basics of SaaS sales down. Learn how to prospect, shadow discovery calls and demos, learn from AEs and sales leaders about the best way to close in any given industryโ€ฆall while being paid to do it.

Welcome on board.
Have you tried LinkedIn, Indeed, or any other relevant sites or apps..?

I dabbled. However, it seems most are searching for those with at least 1 year of sales experience.

Might have to do more digging tho!

There are many posts. Tbh with no closing experience, it might be a bit tough to get a closing role. You might have to start from scratch so if I were you I would start as an SDR.

You won't find opportunities in this forum. But there's a lot of great info to study up on as you hone your skills. -- In your current outbound role, do you follow along the sales process to learn how a deal closes? Thats the best way to get exposure.

Welcome! Here's a good post about how to interview for that tech sales job - and relevant link to how to find it: https://bravado.co/war-room/posts/how-to-ace-the-interview-process

I find it provides some good food for thought on the process and the POV of the hiring managers, etc.
There's also a sales academy here you can put yourself through; I believe there's a deposit that's refunded when you complete the course. Find that up in the left tabs on a desktop.

Start looking at BDR or SDR roles would be my best advice for tech sales. Try looking into the acadmey

Welcome to the club. The secret handshake will be sent when you close your first deal :>
Can you expand on your current role? It kind of reads that you are working as a BDR.
Is there an opportunity at your current company to move upwards?
Are you willing to invest in yourself? I would suggest looking for some in-person sales classes (SPIN, Sandler, etc)
Don't be afraid to apply to roles that you may not meet the listed minimum requirements. Write a compelling cover letter addressing the elephant in the room. You may not get the role, but if you can get an interview, that experience and feedback, that you probably may have to ask for, will be invaluable.
Good luck, and keep us updated on how your process moves forward.
