Hiring advice: GitHub?

Savages - do you work at GitHub? Would you work at GitHub?


I ALWAYS interview when I get interesting recruiting messages, whether or not I'm happy in my current role, and it's now seeming likely that I'll get an offer.


It would be a lateral move for me *technically*, but a better package outside of salary x OTE and this team is hitting, while mine is not.


Thoughts? Opinions? Lived experiences? Hit me.

I got a message from a recruiter once I wish I interviewed there. I have heard good things. It looks like it has a good repvue score, which can be inflated but its good to know

If its better overall comp its not a lateral move. Good luck in your decision.

If your current team isn't hitting(more importantly if you aren't hitting) then maybe a shift is necessary. What does the path to AE look like at GitHub, have you asked?

This is not a lateral move if the package is better. :)

If you're not making your number and you find that GitHub reps are, then you'd be making more in OTE.

Plus, unless you are already working at a big tech company...that MSFT on your CV won't hurt downroad either.

Base is lower but benefits are better and this team is hitting over 150% so overall, I'd be earning significantly more if the team continues to perform (I won't be the exception, realistically).

I think I'm just nervous about accepting a lower base salary from prev. experience in start up sales where the base WAS the salary.

Well, always budget on the base. But if the benefits offered are taking care of things that might have been out of pocket before, that's a positive as well, and definitely something to consider.
