How are you using ChatGPT?

Hey all, with ChatGPT's outage today I thought it'd be a good time to post this question. Obviously there's been a lot of talk about the pros/cons of ChatGPT for the sales profession. I have a colleague who's been using it for account research (i.e. tell me about XYZ Company's initiatives), summarizing action items from calls, persona-specific messaging, product questions, and more.

Curious to see what this community thinks. How are you using ChatGPT as part of your sales process?

I have used to to answer emails, rfps, and even in presentation I did at a conference last week.

For the conference I posed several questions to ChatGPT and did a bunch of cut/pastes into slides to drive home certain points.

The solutions I sell are VERY technical. Sometimes ChatGPT provides a better explanation in laymanโ€™s terms.

I didn't even know there was an outage so that alone should tell you what I think ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

No. I donโ€™t use it beyond creating templates for new ideas.

Unless you are paying for Plus, the data is dead as of late 2021. Any updated information about the world is unlikely to be up to date.

Oh thatโ€™s weird I didnโ€™t know it wasnโ€™t up to date? I feel like they could affect responses ?

Have only dipped my toe in. Plan to use it when I get writer's block, but that hasn't happened yet. Good thing it didn't happen today!

I use it to ask stupid questions to see what kind of responses it gives.

A friend used it very recently to clear his mandatory security training at work (MCQs). 80% accuracy. Not bad at all.

Iโ€™ve dabbled with it for templates but thatโ€™s about it. Obviously I edit them

I use it a decent amount. Filling out performance questions, building a new prospecting template, finding possible headaches for certain personas.

Its a good quick resource, especially when ever sales template that gets passed around is a novel

I built a 5 part โ€œeducationalโ€ cold prospecting sequence with it. My solution is also technical so it served that purpose well without much editing. The second part of this sequence is โ€œinspire.โ€ It failed miserably. So, itโ€™s got a place in some places for me.

I've played with it but I'm too stupid to know how to use it efficiently versus picking up the phone.

It's an interesting but very limited tool.

An author I like was testing it out, and he basically asked if it knew when it was confident about what it was saying or full of shit.

It answered that it did not have the capacity to differentiate.

Sadly I think ChatGPT will be unleashing a tsunami of misinformation, that which is already plaguing our societies.

I have it build me cadences/sequences to put into Outreach/Salesloft, etc.

I also use it to create more specific messaging.

Have not used it for account planning and finding initiatives and market trends but will do that in the future for sure!

I donโ€™t use it currently, but hereโ€™s chatgptโ€™s answer to my question โ€œexplain how salespeople can use chatgpt?โ€

Salespeople can use ChatGPT in several ways to improve their sales process and increase their chances of success:

Lead Generation: Salespeople can use ChatGPT to generate leads by integrating it into their website or social media channels. ChatGPT can be used to engage with website visitors or social media followers, answer their questions, and provide them with relevant information about products or services, which can help to generate leads.
Qualifying Leads: ChatGPT can help salespeople to qualify leads by asking a series of questions to determine if a potential customer is a good fit for their product or service. This can help to save time and resources by focusing only on leads that are more likely to convert.
Sales Support: ChatGPT can provide salespeople with support during the sales process by answering frequently asked questions, providing product information, and guiding customers through the buying process. This can help to reduce the workload of salespeople and improve the overall customer experience.
Customer Retention: ChatGPT can be used to improve customer retention by providing customers with support and assistance after they have made a purchase. ChatGPT can help to answer questions, provide technical support, and offer advice, which can help to build customer loyalty and encourage repeat business.
Overall, salespeople can use ChatGPT to automate parts of the sales process, improve customer engagement, and increase the chances of success. However, it's important to note that ChatGPT should not be used as a replacement for human interaction, but rather as a complementary tool to enhance the sales process.

I find it easy to summarize the website or ask specific questions about the structure.

A few questions I use are like this

- can you summarize <website> on what they do
-can you share information about <department> leadership at this company

You will be surprised at how much valuable this info is.

try it out https://chat.openai.com/ if you haven't yet
