How do you all see Visual Collaboration SaaS performing in this recession?

Tools like Miro and Mural for example. Do you see there being much of a demand given the economic climate we are in?

Not really familiar with these guys. I feel like I might have heard of mural, but I'm probably just thinking about big pieces of art.

They are more of a task and project management tool.

Are you working for or looking to work for companies in this industry? If so, what value do you think they bring?

Definitely see a need for PMs and Product Designers. I would probably stay focused on new start-ups that have recently acquired funding. The larger more stable companies are going to be more cost-cautious with all of the turnover that's happening in the tech industry.

Worked at Mural for 8 months and its my one quick jump on my resume. 5 yr run before and now 13 months into new role with intentions to be here for at least 48 months.

Joined Mural right after their Series B and was trying to make $$ through equity. Learned the hard way that it’s better to focus on making more money in commission unless of course you’re joining as one of the first 10 employees of a startup. Or unless you pick the next Zoom and you start in the Series A or very early B round and also sell your stock when it peaked in the pandemic.

Sadly cannot recommend mural to a friend or a stranger. Company has big problems. Product is glitchy, leadership is meh, and a couple of reps switched 98% of the good accounts into their name when SFDC was wide open and leadership won’t split up their accounts. They went through a round of layoffs recently. Anyone that needed this tool already bought it in the pandemic. I recommend looking at companies that make more of an impact on the entire org you’re selling to. Mural is classic PLG and then shadow IT play which is hard to sell chunky deals IMO.

Looked at Miro as well (better investors) but the issue you’ll run into is that it’s a saturated space and you’ll lose to freemium options all the time. Think Microsoft or Google - both have free/equivalent platforms.

Hope this helps, GL in your search.
