How do you know the best sales role you can land?

Of course, the only true way to know is by applying and finding out.

Looking for advice from the war room legends on what you would shoot for if this was your experience...current base is 75k, OTE = who knows, literally 1-2/ 20 reps are hitting quota.

< 6 months as SaaS AE (Company C, small public company)

1 YOE as SaaS AE (Company B, large public company)

1.5 YOE as SaaS SDR (Company B)

1.5 YOE B2C sales (Company A, small private company)

Recently started a new role and feel like I sold myself short, for context, there are multiple AEs here where this is their first job out of college. Most of the reps are 24-25 and I'm about to be 28. I didn't realize my market value when I joined and the role isn't at all like what the recruiter painted it out to be.

I've learned my lesson and will do way more research on the company before accepting a new position.

But that leaves me in a tough spot because I have no idea what my market value is or what roles I should apply for. Going to aim high but don't want to waste my time. I'm a good interviewer for what it's worth.

What would you be targeting as far as base/OTE if you were me?

Answering your question first and then sprinkling in advice.

I would be looking for a base/OTE higher than my previous role...but there's a catch.

If you're coming from an environment that wasn't valuing you as a person/employee along with other red flags (unattainable quota, bad leadership, etc)...you may find yourself in a much better situation with a lower base and easier attainable OTE with a much healthier employer.

My advice...take the time to truly understand what makes you tick. And whatever that is...is 100% okay and you don't need to validate to anyone except yourself.

Do you value autonomy in your role? How involved do you want your leadership? What do you want in a company? Can you tolerate a shitty boss because the base/OTE are great AND you have opportunity to grow the business?

I promise you, money is great. I've left great companies that valued me but the pay was less than my "market value".

Ask every question. You got this.

As has been said, it’s hard to say based on the information you’ve provided. Across how many companies does your B2B experience span? How many employees did those companies have? What types of products do you have experience selling? Do you have experience selling into a major vertical? (Insurance, Banking, HealthCare, Government, etc) What is your OTE now? Where do you live?

No straight answer as there are many criteria. Tried Repvue?
I would also decide the desired number that I want.

to figure out what you are worth you can start by looking at Repvue for your title and industry.

also, ask what your coworkers are making. I did that and it changed my life.
