How to explain why you want to leave a company after 6 months?

Just like the title says, wondering what the best way is to explain why I want to leave my current company after only 6 months during interviews. I have quickly realized I do not really enjoy selling this product and don't see myself here long term. Also no one on the team has hit over 50% of quota over the past year.

Keep it general. "I've realized the product we sell has poor market fit and it's important to me that I truly believe in what I'm selling."

And don't go into a long tirade. Just keep it short and professional, then pivot to how excited you are about the new oppty.

I agree with @funcoupons. Sometimes in life, things aren't always what they seem and a decision you made to join a company just wasn't the right one. People understand products/companies/opportunities change, so just avoid bad-mouthing your current employer and you'll be just fine!

Honestly.... fax a copy of your resignation letter to the CEO and leave him a voicemail saying you accidentally left a confidential document on the fax machine. Light a match and walk away.

That's exactly how a friend of mine quit her job at the Lancome counter in a department store. #ongod

Honestly just explain it like that and just make it sound more professional. Its hard to sell something you dont believe in

Yeah, it's like dating someone. After 6 months if you realize they suck, doesn't mean you're forced to stay together. Nice an easy. "It's not me, it's you" is always a keeper

I would tell them your first 2 reasons, but not the third (no one on the team has hit over 50% of quota).  You can tell the interviewer that on the surface it appeared like a great fit, but under it, it wasn't.
You can also say that you are always open to a great opportunity and the timing is what it is.

I really wish hiring people from shitty startups was more common.
More startups than not are terrible and won’t survive.
Mine has less than 10% of the entire AE and BDR team hitting quota. The only ones getting close are fed the best SQLs.
3 weeks in the new head of sales had his whole plan walked back. We’re still not allowed to do outbound because they want to push MQLs (with less than 1% MQL to close)
It’s been 5 months. I’m in a similar boat as you. Sick of having been lied to about my OTE, a 6 month promotion to a closing role, and now the ass backwards company direction.
Hope things go well for you. I’m planning on being honest with leaving and if sales management doesn’t expect more people than myself to leave they’re all completely insane.
Orgs need to be held accountable for % of reps hitting quota and realistic OTEs.
Can’t think of any other field where you have to be highly motivated yet companies dick around with pay.

Be candid, thank them for what you learned and offer to take the time to transition out what you need to.

MAKING IT HAPPEN!
Definitely ok to do this especially when a better opportunity comes along.

Be honest and keep it brief.

Most companies do not like turnover and the shorter amount of time the better.

Remember you are #1.

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldn’t be in for very long. They’re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now I’m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldn’t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
