Dear Sales Savages,
I am writing from personal first hand experiences, this is my story. Take everything you can from it, make it your own and most importantly, improve on it if possible. ๐ซต๐ผ
Firstly let me thank all those who helped me out of the kindness of their small savage hearts โฅ๏ธ ๐ค, I couldnโt have done it without your advice and support. Bravado and itโs anonymous users has been the best tool to help me break into tech sales. ๐ฅ๐ซถ๐ผ So in no particular order, thank you;

Step 1 - Create a plan โ๐ปย
This is your ground base, you need to know what you want from your next career move in tech sales. Are you just going for the money? Are you changing to find something you are truly passionate about? A mixture of the two?
Set your plan by finding the right sector within tech such as: cyber security, education, HR, insurtech, real estate, sustainability etc etc. The list is endless, there is tech for almost everything I believe. ๐ ONCE YOU HAVE DECIDED, YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOU ARE โPASSIONATEโ ABOUT IT! This will be needed for your interviews later on. Research and learn why you are passionate on the subject.
Then, decide on the role you are most suited for, for example if you think you are savvy enough to go for a closing role, go for it! If you have only a few years of experience in sales, think about an SDR/BDR role, they also pay really well and it will give you a very solid grounding into the B2B world of sales. Do what is right for you. ๐ช๐ผ. For me, Account Executive seemed doable, although a stretch, and took some hard work but Iโve been in sales for 15 years, so felt it was worth it (I also interviewed for SDR roles and was rejected a few times, so go figure! I also walked away from one SDR role myself) ๐ค๐คซ
Step 2 - Tailor your CV/Resume & Cover letter (only use a cover letter if they require it as part of the application)ย
Make it fit on one page! Cut the bullshit out and make it SUPER PUNCHY. See my very first post for ideas on this.ย
This part takes a lot of work and thought, you really need to get it right! Donโt skimp!
๐ ๐ ๐ย
Step 3 - Research the companyโs ahead of sending out your CV. I canโt stress this enough, you want to find the company you want to work for before you apply. Once you have found it, search or their competition too. Do the same. ๐ ๐ง
Get some informal chats with those people going and have a bullet point list ready of why your reaching out (you want to work for them) and get your little toe in the door, in the hope that you might get some insight into the company so you can see if itโs the right place for you. ๐ฃ๐ฅ
Step 4 - Now your ready to fire over your CV to the right person and your cover letter or video or whatever you feel is best. ๐๐ง๐ค
Step 5 - INTERVIEW!!! I watched loads of helpful stuff on YouTube to get myself prepared, I wrote down answers to so many questions I was never asked. I was ready. I was prepared.ย
Read reverse interview by Elena Verna.ย
Take good control of your interview and ask all the right questions, see my previous posts for more good stuff. ๐๐ผ
You may end up in 2/3/4/5 rounds of interviews, be prepared for this. ๐คผ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Step 6 - Wait for your offer or offers to come in. See previous posts on this.. waiting is painful but itโs done, itโs out of your hands now, itโs up to the sales gods.๐๐ผ
Once it comes inโฆ.. thank them, acknowledge the email and let them know you are now considering their offer โฆ leave it 24 hours IMO ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Step 7 - Negotiate. Once you have your offer in, you got to negotiate, if you are in sales and you donโt negotiate your ultimate deal of selling yourself, then why are you even here? GTFO ๐ค๐ (Joke)
But seriously, if you donโt then how do they expect you to sell their products? You need to go back with a specific list of reasons with your reply on exactly how you BRING VALUE!!! ๐ฐย
Step 9 - Wait for the final offer
Now itโs time to break out the red panties baby, we did it! Get the champagne on ice and celebrate ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
I will also add that I used every single part of Bravado's academy pages, every single one! So definitely use them too ๐
Please refer to my previous posts for more guidance and let me know if I can be of any help. You can do this, you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
Sincerely yours,
Serial Biller โค๏ธย
