How to quit like a savage (bad advice only) - Share your favorite quitting story below - Sadness Lieutenant

True story. toxic manager, terrible company, management turnover, no support, no recognition, changing quotas, bs drama. This was actually the last job I had before my hiatus. was so done with this dumbass manager who was actually the CMO, because the entire sales mgmt team got fired the day I was brought on. He really knew nothing about sales and shirked all good ideas and procedures to the dirt so I said fuck it. In a slack message:

Me: sorry for your loss.

him: ?

me: It's me.

me: I'm the loss.

me: I'm putting in my two weeks notice today.

He never responded, and I never did a lick of work for that dumbass again. The company tanked in headcount by 50% after I left. Sinking ship.

Anyways

Happy Friday savages.Go get that bread.

(new job is going great)

My friend quit a big corporate job and continued to get paid for several months afterwards -- despite her protests that she no longer worked there. It was a rounding error for them but a nice bonus for her.

the way I have always WANTED to quit but havnt had the balls to do it:

Be in a random like monday morning team meeting and as soon as the boss makes any little request "ok if you can pull up the deck from last week....."

I jump up and yell "fuck this shit! Im not doing this anymore!"

and smash my laptop and walk out.......

Maybe one day I will live out my dream.

Dude at a company I worked with a few years back decided he was done and must not have cared too much about burning bridges as he spammed all of the internal slack channels with porn gifs before sending an email to the whole company simply stating "I quit"

Called out the CEO at all hands for being a shitty human being, and then proceeded to stay on payroll for another month while working for 2 hours a day until he finally fired me. Then when he refused to pay out my commissions I blasted him on LinkedIn publicly.

I try hard not to burn any bridges because you never know when you may need a reference. A person I used to work with didn't show up to work one day and gave no notice or anything and wouldn't answer his phone. Showed up to work the next day and the director was like dude, you're fired. Rumor was he had a blow problem and this was the last straw

Years and years and years ago I worked for a hotel company as their “handyman.”
The manager was this batshit crazy lady and was mad that the flowers she chose were dying (I was in a desert and these were water-thirsty plants that were doomed to fail).
She called me in and yelled at me, then threatened to fire me if they didn’t live. I just said “you can’t fire me, I quit” and walked out.
They never paid me my last check, now that I think about it.

I asked for a raise while interviewing. I was told that I need to write a letter and lay out what I am doing to deserve said raise. I wrote a resignation letter that night and brought it the next day. I sat in the VPs office, handed it over the desk, and just sat there and watched as it was read. I blasted Asia’s “Final Countdown” when I walked out for the last time.

Side note - I did give notice and left on really good terms. I am still in touch with the COO and a few of the people there.

Insert a slide into your team's morning standup deck that it's your 2 weeks notice. Ideally, do it when your team lead is presenting so that when he clicks to the next slide it's a surprise for the entire team.

I used to work for a shitty little company that won’t be named. I was a manager and had a direct that had set up a successful trial and we were in the purchasing phase. I asked the ONE lady at the company who produced quotes (because sales reps weren’t allowed to produce quotes?!) for a quote. She responds “I’m really busy this will have to wait until next week”. Mind you it’s a one page PDF and all she had to update was pricing literally two key strokes.

I go to the meeting with no pricing to present. Look like a total jackass. Delays purchasing of the product makes me miss my commission.

I flip out and tell my boss “are you all interested in selling this product? I need to know otherwise you’re wasting my time”.

Interview and get a job elsewhere over the course of a week or two.

Call my boss and tell him I’m resigning and he goes well can you give me two weeks? And I said “nah but I can give you until Friday.” This was on a Wednesday.

Cashed out my PTO and took a month off before my next gig.

guy in and inside sales role and office (think boiler room culture and days where that was glorified) decided he was done one day.  Told no one, went to the rest room and smeared shit all over the rest room.  i mean ALL over.  then walked out.  never gave notice.  legal from the real estate management company had to track him down after video evidence and timelines made it indisputable that he was the one who did the deed.

Dude ended up having real mental issues and no one saw or no one cared

I knew my manager wanted to fire me, so I intercepted her and stormed into her office, tore up my diary page by page and threw them into the air, then proceeded to leave

nice way to drop the mic.

Best I have is just giving my 2 weeks and then saying I'm taking 2 weeks vacation.

I had a manager who was giving this dude a bunch of extra benefits and they clearly had a thing going on so I ratted to corporate (I was very young I don’t give a shit about what people do anymore) and he threatened to figure out who ratted and get them in trouble so I said fuck you I quit. As I was walking out he said “aren’t you gonna put your two weeks in?” To which I laughed and motioned towards the door.
