I am the best rep at my current org, but cant find a decent landing spot to jump ship

This is my first post, so bear with me... I am the best rep at my current org. I've sold the most revenue 3 years in a row and outperform quota yoy, hit presidents club, etc. My job search has been a trip to put it lightly. Everyone who is hiring is either selling a half-baked product, offering completely unrealistic OTE numbers, or is a legacy org with shit quota attainment and offering undesirable territories. I have been looking for a solid 3 months, and found the job prospect space is almost barren for tech/saas. Is this what everyone else is seeing out there? Just curious.

I would start networking to learn of roles you would be interested in, use Repvue to help find other companies with a good OTE and attainment. Then prospect into them

Thanks for the advice! Iโ€™ve been primarily letting recruiters drive the ship up until this point. Iโ€™ve recently realized they recruit for undesirable roles so Iโ€™ve started to apply manually.

Especially for roles they reach out to you, that means it's a hard role to fill or they have a ton of openings (mostly due to turnover)

I've seen some flavor of the struggles you're experiencing in the variety of posts here.
Big question is: why are you leaving your current org? And what are you looking for/to move to?

My current org just changed comp structure, and c-suite changed our core product for the worse. I have maxed out my earning potential with no room to move vertically into leadership (my vp isnโ€™t leaving until we get sold). I want an AE role with 50/50 split, good OTE, and good product/market fit. Iโ€™m not picky, I just donโ€™t want to take a step back.

Agreed, no step back. And with your attainment, yes, be picky.
Sounds like you should keep looking until you find something that has got PMF and good leadership/comp plan. I know those roles are out there.

3 months is how long it takes to find a door you want to walk through. Itโ€™ll take another 6 to get it open. And thatโ€™s if youโ€™ve got a story. Just how it is atm.

If youโ€™re rocking it so hard, why you actively looking to leave? Doesnโ€™t make sense to me.

They changed our comp structure mid year and theyโ€™re gonna screw me out of a bonus because Iโ€™ve been overdriving so much. Also changed the core product for the worse. Quite frankly Iโ€™m bored, I want a new challenge

did you get feedback from th eplaces that did not offer you a job?

Iโ€™ve disqualified most. The few Iโ€™ve gotten feedback from is generic emails from a recruiter โ€œyour skills do not match our criteria, we have moved one with other candidates etcโ€

Seeking a new role
Seasonality for sales roles is a thing! Better roles are going to pop up soon as execs finish budgets. I was in a similar boat (top closer), but was laid off before hiring season hit. Have some target companies and if you're already working with external recruiters, maybe share your top 5 with ones you trust and are well connected. Good chance they have a bigger network. Get on sales leaders radars, and even if they aren't hiring, a quick note detailing your strong interest in joining the team couldn't hurt. A lot of sellers are on the market right now with all the layoffs too, so any referral is far better than a cold application. The entire industry is a bit wacky right now (I've also been selectively searching for a few months) but I really think there will be better companies and roles popping up soon!

I feel you brother, take a more strategic approach. Think, what do I want my next role to look like? Culturally, pay package, & growth options are some to consider. It's tough right now with a lot of competition, however you can find a product interesting enough to sell. Cheers.

You know what you are looking for, that's why it's hard. Be patient and it will be awesome when you find the right spot.

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldnโ€™t be in for very long. Theyโ€™re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now Iโ€™m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldnโ€™t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
