Ideas needed: $2000 CAD to spend on Learning & Development

Hi folks, I'm in need of some ideas for my 2023 L&D goal. My VP has given me a budget of $2000 and they will need to sign off before reimbursement; so taking the money and running isn't an option.

Amount has to spent on one (1) course, project, event, entity, etc. If cost is less than $2000, amount does not rollover to the following year and difference is not paid out.

What do y'all have in mind?

I've suggested before.

Buy $2k worth of books from Amazon -> Get reimbursed -> return books to Amazon

With my luck, that would backfire. VP is an avid reader.

I’d ask your colleagues about any sales courses they have taken, especially the top performers.

Or if you’re in a technical sales environment , any technical course or boot camps would be worth the money.

Thanks! Putting this near the top as there are a few technical courses that would benefit.

Go on one of those "career building" retreats for sales people that's actually just a trip to a tropical island where you surf and get drunk

there are a bunch of threads on this already.

not a bad time to try out those other communities that you have to pay for.

are there any industry certifications that would make sense to try to get? conferences you can go to?

I would try to find a conference to hit up and see if the 2k can cover food and drink too 😂

Same suggestion as always, pay me 2k for a sales course and we will split the money. The title will be something like “Selling in a recession” or whatever you need. Happy to help!
