10 days ago (March 15th) I received an interview request from one of my job applications. It included a calendar link to schedule an interview time, with a note saying not to worry if the date had to be a week or more out as they were planning to hire 2 AEs this cycle. I wasn't planning on waiting, but regardless the first available date was today, March 25th, and I booked the first time slot listed.
I spent the weekend preparing for this interview. I wanted to crush it. This was kind of my last chance if I want to find something before my unemployment runs out end of next month. This morning I open the laptop and pull up my email only to see the interview has been cancelled with a note that they had hired someone for the AE job, but that they were "very impressed" by my resume and would follow up with any updates. Boilerplate rejection email stuff that I never believe.
Is it worth responding at all? I figure it isn't, but I'm just irked by the fact that I book the earliest spot I possibly can, and get shutout before I even get to interview. When I say respond, I mean to respectively ask for clarification, not rip anyone's head off (as much as that may satisfy an immediate emotional need).
