I make them call a number from my list (which obviously is one of my teammates) to book a meeting. Then I give feedback and have them call another number (you guessed it. Another colleague). They at all times think they call an actual prospect.

This gives you insights into many things:
1. Willingness to just go for it and pick up the phone
2. Coachability
3. How well prepared they came into the interview

Sales can be cruel man.. It's an awesome way to filter out big talkers that turn out to be scared to pick up the phone and get in front of people

I actually think this seems cruel because it's a "live cold call", but you knowing it's your colleague who isn't going to ridicule them for calling or getting something wrong. Great idea. You CANNOT hire someone until you've heard them pitch something. Great person, good personality, does not equal sales success.
