It's Friday; What's your lie?

People of War Room! How about a game of 2 Truths and a Lie?

I'll go first:

  1. I once randomly called someone I saw on LinkedIn, it turned out to be an opp worth 100K.
  2. I once scheduled a meeting with an old guy(probably in 70-80s) at 7:00 AM, he showed up to the call in his vest, knew nothing about what we had to sell. We ended up talking about life for 1/2 hour.
  3. I once joked about the prospect's outfit, she got offended and left the call then and there.

Can you guess which one is a lie? Let's keep it going! You write 3 sentences about yourself, we all will guess which one is the lie!

I would like to say that number 2 is the lie, but knowing you, number 3 is it.

1. I once emailed a lady saying "hands up don't shoot" not knowing the pastor fatally shot an armed person coming at him from the congregation. lost the deal.
2. I once worked in surgery and was able to hold a human heart in my hand.
3. I was able to schedule 9 appts in a single day and had 5 of those appts close in a 30 day window.

@Gasty when will we do the reveals?

#3 is your lie. You're far too disciplined, and way too tactical. Not a chance this is true. I love this game.

Here you go:

1. In order to close a sizable deal, I expressed remorse to a client for being busy on January 6, 2021 when President Trump needed me most.
2. When asked by a senior female seller whether our 1:1 would be on Zoom or Slack, I told her I would prefer a hotel room.
3. When corporate credit cards were being distributed for travel and such, I was once the only manager amongst a group of 18 who was declined due to poor payment history with the issuer.

It was August. Was 119 outside. My AC had been dead for 24 hours. I was literally packing my computer and on the way to a hotel to finish the day. I did say that, and she still called HR. Took a week for that shit to blow over.

The most basic one out of the 3 is the 3rd one, that should be a lie. But it isnโ€™t.

Was 20 years ago. I burned a $1,000 AMEX bill when I was in college because I didn't really understand that you had to pay those things back after you ran around town with your first credit card just signing for stuff. I had a ball! AMEX had me on their shit list for a solid 10 years.

Gasty #3 is your lie :)

1. I hate sea food but i had to eat shark meet on a client meeting in Oman not to appear impolite

2. I once tried to board a plane for an important meeting with an expired passport and got stuck in Istanbul airport for 24 hours.

3. I once slept in the trunk of a RAV4 pickup, on a night out with customers in the Saudi Arabian desert cause i was scared snakes might creep in the tent.

I'll go with #3 as the lie. Here are mine:1) Wrote an email to a colleague to ask a question to give to a prospect, in which I mentioned they were dithering over a decision. Forgot to remove the email thread when I forwarded the answer to that same prospect. 2) Didn't realize that the camera for the internal web meeting was capable of capturing facial expressions in the gloom of a darkened conference room, and so was on camera visibly exasperated at a frustrating and tedious discussion with our VP of sales.3) Sent a highly confidential email response to a contact at an entirely different and equally security-conscious company & lost both deals.

@Gasty Iโ€™m going with #3. You donโ€™t seem like the type to make fun of prospects on at call.

#1 - Iโ€™ve run multi-million dollar businesses, but have never taken a business class.
#2 - At one point in the early 2000s I was ranked top 10 in the world on moviequotes.com
#3 - Iโ€™m fluent in Spanish and have conducted over 100 interviews without English.

#2 has too many details, thatโ€™s the lie.

Here are mine:

- I told the CEO of a Fortune 500 company that he should cut costs to make more money (this was mid-90โ€™s)

- I met a guy at a party in DC, and after talking with him for about 15 minutes about him and his wifeโ€™s investments, he had to go take a call. When I asked someone who it was, I was told it was Senator Burr.

- After a long quarter, I decided at brunch that my friends and I should go to AC for the day (easy from NYC). I went a little too hard and blacked out. I woke Sunday afternoon in a Toronto hotel.

Good luckโ€ฆ
