ITIL is the best option?

I have recently been informed that if I want to automate, via e-services, the activities performed by the company. It has been explained to me that the application of the ITIL strategy is considered the best basis for entering the world of electronic service automation.

ITIL is literally a foundational baseline that a company can plan off of, like a universal blueprint of you will. Why are they making you handle IT decisions? Do you not have an Architect?
