I think anyone who answered 'never' hasn't been in the game that long.
Been in since 2014. Not super long but long enough and yet to be laid off. Been very fortunate with the opportunities I've had. I also do feel it's a industry thing, both I've been in are likely a fair bit different to the majority on here and it's not uncommon to see people hold sales positions in both industries I've been in for 30 plus years at the same company (not my plan lol)

I clicked "never" cause it ain't none of your business. Lay offs happen and nearly everyone will get hit by them at some point.

I got laid off from an internship one time.
Anyone in sales for 5+ years has been laid off/fired/ inexplicably terminated. Itโs just the way it is. Itโs also why I have zero emotional connection to a company. As was famously stated in 12 years a slave โit extends the length of a coinโ
The Software-IT & Cloud Tech Sales industry is volatile due to many mergers-buyouts-poor funding and Yes many Layoffs so you will probably Not hear the truth about how many times someone has been laid off int their career. Oh by the way I Lied !!!
I got laid off from a very comfortable and lucrative job when I asked for documentation saying I had a steady job for my daughterโs adoption paperwork. It was a gut punch and while it all worked out okay - I got my kiddo 7 years ago - it still hurts to think they did that to me.
Thank you everyone for sharing! I got hit hard in 2023 but know Iโm not alone
