I'm a sucker for the entire series and movie.

I get some seasons are better than others, but one of my favorite shows of all-time.

Math? I had a hard enough time going into the Calculus rooms at the HS during back to school night. Total flashback time.

Like gibbles, I'd have asked. Why a math assessment for AM? That's something for the CFO or controller. Makes no sense to me.

Most "rules" (hoops you need to jump through in this case) exist because someone in the past made it a requirement for the future.

We all have to take our shoes off to go through the TSA check point cause some moron lit his shoes on fire like 20 years ago. So you have to do a math problem cause they once hired someone who couldn't do simple addition.

Math or general cognitive aptitude? I've had the latter a bunch of times.

Were there spatial reasoning and word problems or just straight numbers?

Did you ask why they make people do this?

I could understand some sort of personality assessment being in staffing...

But a math assessment? Da fuq?

The response? "Everyone has to do it, including our leadership". Yeah, that definitely instills my trust in your leadership if they're doing this shit instead of ya know, leading.

Was it a wonderlic test? I had to do that too for a SDR interview. Questions straight from the SAT I swear... quick maths = quick emails I guess?

Back in 2020 I applied to a customer success position and was asked to do a 6 hour math and reading comprehension assessment. I completed in about 3 hours or so and then was ghosted.

I did just once but that was a strategic and analytical role. Promised never to do it again, took 3 days.

Yeah, this is for an AM role that's a split of hunting/farming. Not once was I asked for a GTM plan, discovery mock call or how I would approach the ICP.

Iโ€™ve had to take personality tests. I actually had one company decline to interview me because the test said I wouldnโ€™t be a good fit for the role lol

EVERY organization should be using an assessment to assist in the hiring process. It helps the interview and the communication if hired.

Solving riddles and doing math helps with communication if hired? Right..

Naturally, results vary depending upon the quality of the assessment being used. However, when done correctly, the information gained -- both for the employee and the company -- is HUGE. Understanding our behaviors and how to recognize behaviors of others - clients, peers, managers, spouse - can definitely help us improve communication. Better communication leads to better results.
