Just got promoted to a leadership role, can i leave in 4 weeks?

I just got promoted and I've been interviewing for other roles with much higher pay. I'll probably have a few offers in 2 weeks. How can I leave on good terms... I really like the people but I'm not learning or earning.

Hit them with "You love to culture and people, however this new opportunity I will being making a great deal more. I did not plan on leaving you, however when I got that linkedin message it was too enticing with the salary to not check it out."

Give them two weeks and have the crm updated perfectly, intros sent to key DM for clients, and have notes about next steps for everything.

This is a great way to let them know.

You don't have any control over their reaction, but you have to take care of yourself. I wouldn't tell them you're not learning anything; keep it positive, thank them for the opportunity, but let them know you received an exceptional offer you couldn't refuse. Wish them well, make sure you take care of the transition, and best of luck to you!

Oh man! You have some major leverage here if you play your cards right. Typically, anyone who's been promoted and then leaves that job causes shock waves in the org. Rumors of instability, profitability and compensation start happening which they now have to address. This gives you some leverage that you can use and essentially name your price knowing that those are the pressures that the org is up against. If they want to negotiate then great! You're in a position of power and from there it's just nailing down the terms. If they don't then you have some backup offers to rely on. I've always made it a habit to negotiate so when you leave or if you stay... you know have a baseline of comp that you can expect no matter where you go.

Just explain your reasoning, why the new opportunity is better, and make sure your transition out is seamless

It’s good to be transparent- if they can afford you they will make you a counter. I won’t have high hopes from them about treating me like a king after announcing my departure.

With what you described as the situation, you’d probably be burning a bridge.

If they're the right people tell them the numbers and the company you were offered and they will cheer you on.

see if they can then meet your pay or increase it at least.

I think you can. If the market is willing to pay and your job won't remain competitive that is their problem.

Time to go.

company leadership will burn you the moment it becomes convenient. Don’t be afraid to light the match yourself first.

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldn’t be in for very long. They’re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now I’m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldn’t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
