LED Lighting and Fixtures manufacturer/installation

Working for a fairly new LED lighting company.  Any suggestions on what business to sell products to? My initial thought was B2B targeting General Contractors, Commercial New Building Build, Construction Companies...any other suggestions?

Umm. Thinking out loud (not my area of expertise):
- Every company + Individual would need LED lighting for sure. So you can start B2C first. Understand your ICP properly and then you can expand towards B2B and have more discounted approach towards bigger companies.

- Understand the pain points (I am sure now having bright light in the rooms is a pain point) and prepare decks / pitches for B2B.

hate be be a downer....but that sounds like an incredibly basic question you need to know the answer to before joining a company....

curious on why this is still a question mark for you?

Hey hey sorry I’m late to this post. Depends on the level of your product. If it is contractor grade then focus on electrical contractors, general contractors, and maybe building owners. If it is spec grade then focus on lighting designers, architects, and maybe electrical engineers depending on the product. Can you elaborate a little more on the type of LEDs?

Thanks for the response. The industries you provided help a lot. To answer your questions…Honestly it's both. The one thing it isn't is decorative. The quality of type is commercial for construction and industrial use. They are better than most other products in the market as far as lumen output, how long they last, and their energy savings.

I would focus on electrical contractors, general contractors, electrical engineers, architects, and MAYBE lighting designers if it’s a high enough quality.

Are you selling direct or doing the whole specification thing that goes through distribution?

Currently Direct as the main focus is upgrading current PG&E customers lighting to LED via the OBF program financed by PG&E. We’ve open to distribution just have not explored that channel yet. Company name is Everwatt Lights.

Appreciate your insight, Thanks!

I would spend 75% of your time on the already open channel of PG&E customers and then expand into other market segments with the other 25%. Gradually expanding that time into other segments entirely. The whole rebate market is limited. You might make a fuck ton of money but eventually the rebates end or projects dry up.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Owners of the company are solely focused in PG&E for obvious reasons. I’m looking much further down the road. As soon as PG&E change the 0% financing to 1% or more a significant number of potential clients will not move forward. It’s only a matter of time for this to happen. Very important to have an alternate revenue stream that can grow once focus has shifted.

It’s with a new client I’m consulting for. They’re current program is upgrading current PG&E business clientele to LED through an OBF program specific to PG&E. So to answer both @Diablo and @Justalittle we very much do know who the current ICP are. I’ve implemented very direct marketing campaigns which deliver over 25% success rate of conversion. However one cannot just rely on one channel of revenue hence my proposed question to execute an alternative marketing campaign for a different channel to generate revenue.

I guess that's a basic question, you should've known the answer for it before starting your project!!

You should probably read all the comments and updates before making a generalization comment especially if it’s negative.
