Life Insurance Sales Jobs

There are some Life insurance sales jobs postings out there saying you can make a lot of money per year, full time or part time, and they provide you with all the leads so you do not have to find them on their own. Finding them on your own is the staple of how Life Insurance sales works, so this sounded interesting to me.

I was wondering if these places are legit, or are they too good to be true?

If the money was legit, then sure why not

If something sounds too good to be true (e.g. we provide you 100% of leads) it definitely is.

I sales jobs have the opportunity to make legit money. The stories I have heard about life insurance usually are cold calling friends/family to buy from you

Sounds sus, but I've seen crazier. Some companies pay people just to take orders, but that role won't survive a leadership change.

To good to be true my friend. Most people already have adequate life insurance through their employer.

The model of these places is to get you to sell a bunch of policies to your family/friends burn you out and then hope everyone you sold keeps paying their premiums.

A lot to unpack here.

Yeah, it is true that a lot of insurance sales operations encourage (force) you to solicit your friends and family. IMOs are usually the ones who claim to provide tons of leads, but theyโ€™re old and the target demo for IMOs is poor people anyway. A lot of leg work for very low pay.

Also true that most people have adequate LI through their employer, but most people donโ€™t have a true insurance need. If youโ€™re low-income or an older person with little/no debt and a low net worth consideration youโ€™re the target demo for the vast majority of LI insurance sales. The keys to the kingdom are found elsewhereโ€ฆ

High net worth and UHNW are the people/families most benefited by integrated insurance and investments. Especially if they have large RE holdings, own multiple companies, or are W2s with high household income with a decent time horizon to retirement.

It gets very complicated at this level, but also not something anyone at the โ€œwe give you leads lolโ€ companies even attempt. Hell, nobody at Fidelity, Vanguard, Merrill, Morgan Stanley, Baird, EJ, etc even do it.

amen, life insurance sales to people who have a true need is typically more boutique and relationship driven

good chance its 1099 not w-2, good chance the leads totally suck, good chance you will be forced to push product on ppl who DONT need it or DONT understand it.

Was in the insurance game for a while as well and can confirm everything mentioned here is accurate.

โ€œLeadsโ€ in Insurance speak = Orphan clients. Meaning, they are a bunch of folks who have a policy that are not associated with a rep. Your goal is to either convert their current policy or sell them something entirely different.

Also, any successful agents I know have all said the same thing, takes at least 4yrs to build a stable book of business or you are well connected in your community and become the person everyone goes to.

If you want to sell insurance, better off working for an established rep., helping with their book of business, and wait until they retire so you can buy it off of them.

Just my two cents.

If your doing Life insurance you have to be comfortable with buying your own leads. Insurance is a great opportunity but the only way to be successful out of it and is to view it as a FT business and not a job.
