AE SMB Interview - Talent solutions

Hello everyone, I've written about this topic in the past, and here I am again.

It looks like I'll be having another interview to join LinkedIn as an Account Executive (AE). This will be the second time, and this time the recruiter has informed me that the manager is interested in conducting the first interview directly with me, bypassing the recruiter.

Do you have any tips for someone with experience in LinkedIn sales interviews?

I'm currently not working in SaaS, and that's my biggest weak point, as I'm employed at a well-known travel website in a sales role.

Thanks!

LinkedIn isnโ€™tโ€ฆSaaS. At least not in the traditional sense. Their premium tools are not platform plays IMO.

Linkedin sells advertising and access to platform data not software.
Industry experience matters very little compared to sales skill, if you can sell its transferrable and the interview will help you demonstrate that.

This, I know someone who works there in sales and is very successful. They came from a marketing role. Itโ€™s advertising sales.

Congratulations on getting another interview. Can you provide some more detail about the role? Might help the group provide relevant advice.

99.7 % of people that LinkedIn hires who have never worked there before, have never worked there before. Find the skills that you know will translate and sell them.

Old high school acquaintance is decently high up there on the marketing side. Run into him from time to time when heโ€™s back in town and he makes a crap ton. I pinged him on a sales position and yea they do very well. Not sure what level though

Be honest and transparent try to have a natural conversation and get her to like you. Youโ€™re in sales, the skills are transferable, industries and products can be learned.

I think you will be fine. My mindset is "sales is sales" but also LI isn't really a SaaS platform anyway.

Hit up Glassdoor and filter by job title. Though it is not the best platform out there, you can glean little tips here and there.

For what itโ€™s worth, I have a couple of friends there. Culture/teamwork are a big deal to them. No lone wolfโ€™s.

Good luck and keep us posted!
