๐Ÿ˜” Living Alone and Self-Isolating. ๐Ÿ˜”

Yes. It can be lonely.

It isn't always easy.

When I was in my 30โ€™s I found it was very important for me be alone so I could develop my personality. So I could be alone to learn to like myself.

It's normal to avoid difficult situations. And so, when we are with other people, we have distractions and activity. And we can avoid the questions that are building up inside.

When we are alone, those questions have a chance to be heard. And we don't always have answers. And it can be uncomfortable.

But it can be important to be alone so we can hear the questions we have been avoiding. And so we can find the answers we need to find.

It's like we are taking a journey, but inside our soul.

If Iโ€™ve described something you can recognize, you have a chance now to take some steps on this type of journey.

Embrace the opportunity.

Give yourself permission to learn about yourself.

It will make you stronger.

Hard as it may seem right now, those existential questions that are loud in your thoughts currently, they will fade away.ย

- because something about them was resolved by your changed actions or by your changed point of view
- because you did nothing and the opportunity to move forward on them passes, unfulfilled
- because you drowned them out

What you don't deal with, and back away from, tends to make your life a little smaller -- and in the end comes back again years later, though with a twist.ย

This post hits close to home.ย

Especially: "When we are alone, those questions have a chance to be heard. And we don't always have answers. And it can be uncomfortable."
For me, I feel more intimidated when Iโ€™m by myself. Cause itโ€™s just me. I donโ€™t know whether my opinions are right. Thats the scariest part. I feel like I scare myself the most.ย I often turn on sound of the tv on the background to make those thoughts go away. -- To just have some background noise..ย
But realizing more and more how important it is to indeed embrace the opportunity and give those thoughts permission to run.. and learn more about myself.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

You can drown out your thoughts. But there's a cost to you. What you don't deal with doesn't go away. It just comes back with a twist.

To the parents out there, how have you balanced your sales career with raising young children, especially during WFH in Covid? Do you feel more productive with WFH or less?
